ABOUT LOUISIANA
Louisiana returned five starters from the 2017 season highlighted by three returning All-Sun Belt Conference performers in middle blocker Dree'Ana Abram, libero Sydney Davis and 2017 SBC Freshman of the Year Hali Wisnoskie.

The Ragin' Cajuns added a talented group of eight newcomers headlined by freshmen Kelsey Bennett (5-11, OH, Allen, Texas) and Desiree Johnson (5-11, RS, Forney, Texas) who have been inserted into the rotation. Louisiana is utilizing a 6-2 offense for the first time in the Heather Mazeitis-Fontenot era with setters Avery Breaux and Milayne Danna directing the offense.

SET POINTS
  • Five of the eight matches remaining in Sun Belt Conference play will be played at Earl K. Long Gym.
  • Louisiana's offense has thrived at Earl K. Long Gym to the tune of a .243 hitting percentage.
  • Sydney Davis, who owns 96 career matches of double-digit digs, ranks 14th among the NCAA Division I active leaders in career digs with 1,848.
  • The last time Louisiana was in Earl K. Long Gym, Sydney Davis pushed her career digs total past 1,800 allowing her to join Nia Kiggundu (2,043) and Lindsay Brown (1,863) as the only players in program's al-time history (1976-present) to reach the milestone.
  • Louisiana's offense has featured a balanced effort in Sun Belt play. The quartet of Hali Wisnoskie (2.77/set), Hanna Rovira (2.48/set), Dree'Ana Abram (2.16/set) and Nia Antoine (2.03/set) are each averaging over 2.00 kills per set in SBC action.
  • Hali Wisnoskie, averaging a career-best 3.06 kills per set, reached double figures in kills in five of the first eight Sun Belt matches.
  • Hali Wisnoskie delivered a career-high tying 18 kills last Saturday at Little Rock. She's hit the mark three times this season (at San Diego State, vs. Troy, Little Rock).
  • Nia Antoine pushed her career kills total past 700 during last week's Arkansas road trip (currently at 706 through 103 career matches).
  • Nia Antoine has climbed into the rally scoring era Top 5 career blocks list. At 261 career blocks, she ranks fifth in the rally scoring era and is 39 blocks shy of joining Kim Rodgers (396) and Chanelle Gardner (365) as individuals to post 300 blocks.
  • Louisiana's roster features three individuals who have tallied 500-plus career kills: Nia Antoine (706), Hali Wisnoskie (580) and Hanna Rovira (543).
  • After each kill the remainder of the season, Hanna Rovira will be increasing her personal single-season best total. She currently has 188 kills which eclipses her previous personal best of 175 as a junior in 2017.
  • Louisiana reached five blocks in 12 consecutive matches and 21 times overall in 22 matches.
  • The Ragin' Cajuns are five wins shy of recording the program's all-time 700th victory.

COACH MAZEITIS-FONTENOT'S THOUGHTS
On one key aspect for success in second half of Sun Belt play
"It's understanding that competitive endurance is important. We can be great for 10 points at a time, then we let an opponent go on a six-point run and we're playing catch up.

It's not that we're not good enough to compete with these teams and beat these teams, but are we strong enough, or creating enough urgency, to do it every contact and every play.

If we can elevate and have that kind of urgency in this back stretch, I think we will be fine because it's not like we don't have the talent. It's how are we performing play-by-play, contact-by-contact."

UP NEXT
Louisiana heads west to Texas for Sun Belt West Division rematches at Texas State and UT Arlington. The Ragin' Cajuns will be in San Marcos on Friday, Oct. 26 and in Arlington on Saturday, Oct. 27. First serve for both matches is at 6:30 p.m.
