LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Men's Tennis will be sending senior Arthur Libaud, junior Pearse Dolan and freshmen Kacper Dworak and Jan Galka to Tuscaloosa, Alabama this week for the ITA Southern Regionals hosted by the University of Alabama starting on Friday, Oct. 19 and running through until Tuesday, Oct. 23.
HOW THINGS WILL BE RUN: The tournament begins with the Round of 64 Qualifying Round of singles on Friday, Oct. 19, with the first batch of matches going at 9 a.m. and the second batch rolling at 11 a.m. There will be eight qualifiers that reach the Main Draw, and in order to get there each qualifier will have to win at least three matches.
In doubles things will get started on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 9 a.m. There is no qualifying round for doubles, and the field of 64 will play through five matches to reach the finals scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 23.
FOUR CAJUNS IN SINGLES: In the Qualifying Round of 64, Louisiana will have all four Ragin' Cajuns attempt to make a run at the Main Draw. Libaud received a bye in the first round and he will wait for the winner of the Lorenzo Rodriguez (Auburn) vs. Rossouw Norval (Sam Houston State), which is scheduled to play at 3 p.m. on Friday.
Dworak, near the top of the bracket, will face off with Tulane's Eric Wagner, on Friday starting at 9 a.m. At 11 a.m., Galka will take on Ole Miss' Sebastian Rios and Dolan will face Agie Moreno from Louisiana State, with his match also starting at 11 a.m., rounding out Louisiana's first round matches.
TWO PAIRS OF CAJUNS: In doubles, which are scheduled to start on Saturday, at 9 a.m., Louisiana's pairing of Dwoark and Galka and Libaud and Dolan will represent the Cajuns.Â
Dwoark and Galka will have a bye in the first round, putting them in the second round where they will face Southern Miss' duo of Kwasniewski and Reyes. Dolan and Libaud have drawn Auburn's Durham and Rushin for a first round matchup and a win will move them into the second round a matchup with Alabama's Fischer and Zhou.
