Louisiana Wraps Up Non-Conference Play Against La Tech and McNeese

LAFAYETTE, La. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball team continues its eight-game hometand this week with a pair of midweek games against in-state foes Louisiana Tech and McNeese at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park to wrap up non-conference play for the 2017 season.

The Cajuns (28-19-1, 14-9-1 Sun Belt) open the week against the Bulldogs (32-15) on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Russo Park. Following the matchup with La Tech, Louisiana will host the Cowboys (31-15) on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the club's final non-conference game of the year.

Only tickets for the originally scheduled April 26 date against McNeese will be accepted for entrance to Wednesday's contest against the Cowboys.

The Ragin' Cajuns are coming off of a series loss to Georgia Southern last weekend at Russo Park. The Cajuns opened the weekend with a 3-0 shutout of the Eagles, but then came up short 6-5 before falling 9-1 in the series finale to lose back-to-back series for the first time since 2015.

Junior right-hander Evan Guillory (3-2, 3.59 ERA) will make the start on Tuesday against Louisiana Tech, while sophomore right-hander Nick Lee (5-4, 5.60 ERA) is slated to make the start on Wednesday.

La Tech will start senior right-hander Cameron Linck (3-1, 3.78 ERA) who is making his 11th start of the season. McNeese will also start a right-hander as Zach Rider (1-0, 5.54 ERA) will take the mound.

The Ragin' Cajuns hold a 78-65 lead in the all-time series against Louisiana Tech despite having lost the last three meetings in the series. The Cajuns dropped a 6-5 decision in 13 innings on the road against the Bulldogs earlier this season. Louisiana is 27-11 against La Tech under head coach Tony Robichaux.

The Bulldogs have won 10 of their last 12 games seeing a season-best seven-game win streak come to an end this weekend at FIU. Louisiana Tech won the first two games of the series against the Panthers 14-6 and 10-6 before falling in the series finale 6-3.

Offensively, La Tech is hitting .302 with 113 doubles, nine triples and 50 home runs. Ralphael Gladu is one of five players on the squad hitting .300 or better on the season with a team-best .374 average, 14 doubles, two triples, seven homers and 43 RBI. Chase Lunceford has 13 home runs and 51 RBI on the season hitting .274.

The Cajuns lead the all-time series with McNeese State holding a 92-64 edge. Louisiana defeated the Cowboys 3-1 earlier this season. The Ragin' Cajuns hold an 18-4 home record against McNeese with Robichaux as the skipper.

McNeese is also coming off of back-to-back series losses after dropping two of three games to Texas A&M – Corpus Christi this weekend at home. The Cowboys took down the Islanders 6-4 in the series opener before losing 10-4 and 5-4.

Shane Selman paces McNeese offensively hitting .365 with 15 doubles, 1 triple, 11 home runs and 48 RBI. The Cowboys are hitting .307 as a team with 95 doubles, 14 triples and 48 home runs.

Following the midweek contests, the Cajuns will close out their home slate with a three-game series with Texas State at Russo Park starting Friday at 6 p.m.
