LAFAYETTE, La. – Riding a season-high eight-game win streak, the 20th-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball team will open its second straight five-game week with a pair of midweek contests starting with a 6:30 p.m. contest against Texas on Tuesday at Constellation Field in Sugar Land, Texas.

Following the matchup with the Longhorns, the Cajuns will return home to host No. 27 McNeese in a 6 p.m. non-conference game at Russo Park. Â

Louisiana (26-14-1, 13-4-1 Sun Belt) returned to the rankings for the first time in four weeks coming in at No. 20 in the Collegiate Baseball rankings. The Ragin' Cajuns are also ranked 24th in the D1Baseball Top 25.

The Cajuns picked up a series sweep over Little Rock last weekend capped with a 5-3 comeback win in the series finale. The eight-game win streak for Louisiana is the third longest in the nation behind Creighton (10) and Norfolk State (9).

Junior right-hander Evan Guillory (2-2, 4.05 ERA) will make the start for the Ragin' Cajuns against Texas (28-15, 7-8 Big 12). Guillory tossed 4.1 scoreless innings in his last start against Tulane in a no decision.
The Longhorns will counter with freshman right-hander Blair Henley (3-3, 4.07 ERA) who is making his ninth start of the year.

Offensively, the Ragin' Cajuns are hitting .278 as a team with 71 doubles, 12 triples and 26 home runs. Junior Steven Sensley has taken over the best average on the team hitting .331 with eight doubles, two triples, seven home runs and 31 RBI. The Cajuns have four players with an average over .300 for the season including junior Kennon Fontenot with a .304 average, 13 doubles, a triple, four homers and 22 RBI.

The Cajuns own a 5-29 all-time record against Texas. Louisiana is 2-3 against the Longhorns with head coach Tony Robichaux at the helm including a 2-0 mark in Houston.

Texas has won five straight contests coming into the matchup after picking up a sweep of New Orleans over the weekend. The Longhorns are batting .246 as a club with 78 doubles, five triples and 33 home runs.

Kacy Clemens, the son of MLB great Roger Clemens, is the only Texas player with an average over .300 as he is hitting .306 with 12 doubles, eight home runs and 33 RBI.

The Cajuns lead the all-time series with McNeese State holding a 92-64 edge. Louisiana defeated the Cowboys 3-1 earlier this season. The Ragin' Cajuns hold an 18-4 home record against McNeese with Robichaux as the skipper.

The Cowboys (28-11, 18-3 Southland) won two of three at Northwestern State last weekend. McNeese opened the series with a 13-4 victory over the Demons before falling 7-4. The Cowboys edged NSU 5-4 in the series finale.

McNeese is hitting .313 through 39 games and ranks top 25 in the nation in average, doubles (85), on base percentage (.405), runs (302), scoring (7.7), slugging percentage (.488) and home runs per game (1.10).
