Louisiana hosts Prairie View for Sunday doubleheader
LAFAYETTE — Senior Coleman Wahlborg tallied a 6-4, 6-4 victory at the No. 6 spot, but the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis team dropped a 4-1 decision to Southern Miss on Saturday at Cajun Courts.
The loss snaps the six-match winning streak that Louisiana (11-10) had against Southern Miss, which improved to 15-4 on the season.
Arthur Libaud and Jamie Fraser continued their fairly successful season as a pair at No. 2 doubles. The duo claimed a 6-4 victory over Chao-Yu Huang and Wen-Po Tseng, improving to 14-3 in dual matches and 8-1 at the No. 2 spot.
The Golden Eagles claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and 3.
Wahlborg's match marked the only singles victory for the Cajuns on Saturday, but the team fought hard, with Libaud and Vlad Kramarov forcing first-set tiebreaks. Libaud won the set with a 7-3 score in the tiebreak, but both his and Kramarov's matches were unfinished.
Southern Miss's Daniel Merker defeated Pearse Dolan 7-5, 6-2 at No. 2 to clinch the match for the Eagles.
