LAKE CHARLES, La. – Coming off of a five-game week that saw the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball team win its fifth straight series, the squad will undergo another busy week starting with a 6 p.m. midweek contest on Tuesday against McNeese at Joe Miller Ballpark.

Following the meeting with the Cowboys (18-9, 9-0 SLC), the Ragin' Cajuns (13-9, 4-2 SBC) will head to Hammond, La. on Wednesday to complete the suspended game from Feb. 20 before squaring off in the regularly scheduled contest. Action gets underway at 5 p.m. with the Lions at Alumni Field. Only tickets for the March 29 contest will be honored as the stadium will not be cleared between games.

All of the action against Southeastern Louisiana will be broadcast on Cox Sports Television (CST) and simulcast on ESPN3 with Lyn Rollins on play-by-play, Ronnie Rantz adding color and Jessica Province on the sidelines.

The Cajuns are coming off of a 2-3 week that saw the squad fall out of the Baseball America top 25 while also dropping in the D1Baseball rankings (21) and USA Today Coaches poll (24).

Louisiana extended its streak of weekend series victories to five this season and 14 overall dating back to the 2016 season after taking two of three games at Troy over the weekend. The Ragin' Cajuns opened the weekend with a narrow 6-5 victory in the series opener before falling 7-5 on Saturday. The Cajuns captured the series with a 7-2 win in the rubber match.

Right-hander Jack Burk (0-3, 2.70) will make the start for Louisiana against McNeese on Tuesday. Burk posted a quality start in his last outing against Houston limiting the Cougars to one earned run in seven innings. The Cowboys will counter with sophomore right-hander Aidan Anderson (2-1, 8.79 ERA). Starters for the game on Wednesday at Southeastern Louisiana have yet to be announced.

The Cajuns lead the all-time series with McNeese State holding a 91-64 edge. The Cowboys won the only meeting between the two teams a year ago taking a 7-2 decision in Lake Charles, La. ending a streak of four straight won by the Ragin' Cajuns at Joe Miller Ballpark.

McNeese has won 14 of its last 16 games this season including a sweep of Nicholls over the weekend. The Cowboys are 14-0 at home this year and are undefeated in Southland Conference play. McNeese ranks top 10 in the nation offensively in average (.331), doubles (65), runs (205), scoring (8.5) and slugging (.513).

Matt Gallier and Joe Provenzano are tied for the team lead in average hitting .386 on the season. Gallier has a team-best seven home runs and 25 RBI. The Cowboys have five players with 20-plus RBI on the squad coming into the contest.

The Ragin' Cajuns hold a 64-48 edge over Southeastern Louisiana in the all-time series. Louisiana is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings with the Lions going 4-1 in Hammond, La. during that stretch. Head coach Tony Robichaux holds a 20-13 record against Southeastern Louisiana since taking over the helm in 1995.

The Lions have lost five straight after being swept at Houston Baptist last weekend. Southeastern Louisiana lost on a walk-off winner in the series opener 8-7. The Huskies went on to sweep the series winning 4-0 and 6-3.

Southeastern Louisiana is hitting .247 as a team led by Taylor Schwaner with a .369 average, four doubles, three triples, six home runs and 32 RBI. Senior Carson Crites is hitting .267 with five doubles, two triples, three homers and 22 RBI.
