Cajuns to face DePaul in first round

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis team opens play on Friday when it faces DePaul in the opening round of the 51st annual H-E-B Tournament of Champions at the H-E-B Tennis Center.

First serve longest-running collegiate team tournament in the country is set for 10 a.m. After facing DePaul (7-3) in the opening round, Louisiana (10-4) will face either South Alabama or UT Rio Grande Valley at 5 p.m. on Friday. Other teams in the two-day, eight-team tournament include New Mexico State, host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, UTSA and Arizona.

Matches will be played at the H-E-B Tennis Center and the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center.

The Ragin' Cajuns opened their week-long trip to south Texas with a 6-1 win over UTRGV on Tuesday as the tandem of Arthur Libaud and Jamie Fraser improved to 10-1 in doubles play this spring. Libaud added his team-high ninth victory in singles play for Louisiana with Fraser improving to 6-2 overall in his freshman campaign.

Coleman Wahlborg and Elio Lago each recorded straight-set victories in singles play for the Ragin' Cajuns with Vlad Kramarov claiming a three-set victory at No. 3.

DePaul, which dropped a 4-0 contest to Louisiana at the 2014 H-E-B Tournament of Champions, look to rebound after going 1-1 last weekend that concluded with a 4-0 loss to Purdue.

The No. 1 doubles tandem of Alex Galoustian and Nathan de Veer, who are 6-1 overall, and the No. 3 tandem of Fran Tonejc and Christopher Casati, 7-1 overall, each suffered their first dual losses of the season to the Boilermakers.

de Veer paces the Blue Devils in singles play, posting a 7-2 record in dual matches, with Tim Corwin 5-4 overall.
