RUSTON, La. –The 14th-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball team will look to build off of its series sweep of Saint Peter's as the squad heads to in-state rival Louisiana Tech for a 6 p.m. contest on Wednesday at J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park.

The Ragin' Cajuns hold a 78-64 lead in the all-time series against Louisiana Tech despite losing both meetings a year ago. Last year's contests ended a seven-year hiatus between the two programs. Louisiana is 27-10 against La Tech under head coach Tony Robichaux.

The Cajuns (9-4) jumped up one spot to No. 14 in the latest Baseball America Top 25, while the team is still ranked 15th in the D1Baseball rankings. The Ragin' Cajuns have won all three series this season and are 1-1 in the midweek.

Senior Alex Pinero is riding an 11-game hit streak into the matchup. Pinero has a team-best .404 average with six doubles, a home run and 11 RBI. Freshman Todd Lott has continued his hot start hitting .364 with two doubles, a triple, a home run and nine RBI.

As a team, the Cajuns have raised their average to .272 with 20 doubles, three triples and five home runs.

The Louisiana pitching staff ranks among the best in the nation leading the country in hits allowed per nine innings (5.18). The team also ranks second in the nation in WHIP (0.91) and 16th in ERA (2.48).

The Bulldogs (13-2) are ranked as high as No. 23 in the NCBWA rankings and have won 18 of their last 19 contests at J.C. Love Field. Louisiana Tech is off to one of the best starts in school history with the clubs only two losses of the season coming to Arkansas, 13-10, and Arkansas State, 6-5.

La Tech split a pair of games against the Red Wolves this past weekend in Jonesboro, Ark. as the series was cut short due to weather. The Bulldogs are slated to face Grambling State on Tuesday night at 6 p.m.

Offensively, Louisiana Tech is hitting .288 as a team and ranks top 25 in the nation in doubles (39) and home runs (18). The Bulldogs rank ninth in the nation averaging 8.9 runs per game.

Junior Brent Diaz paces La Tech at the plate hitting .411 with a team-best nine doubles and 20 RBI. Jordan Washam is also on a tear offensively hitting .404 with seven doubles and 13 RBI, while Chase Lunceford had a team-high six home runs with 18 RBI.

Following the matchup with the Bulldogs, Louisiana heads back home to M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park to open Sun Belt Conference play with a three-game series against Appalachian State starting Friday at 6 p.m.
