Cajuns Fall To SBC Leader Little Rock, 82-64

LAFAYETTE – Ronjanae DeGray scored 25 points and Sharde' Collins added 23 points as SBC leader Little Rock earned an 82-64 win over the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball team on Saturday at the Cajundome.
Louisiana (11-7, 5-4 SBC) raced out to an early 7-0 lead when Kimberly Burton made a layup with 8:16 left in the first quarter.
Little Rock (15-6, 9-0 SBC) responded to tie the game 9-9 when DeGray connected on a jumper with 5:06 remaining in the period.
Jaylyn Gordon, who led the Cajuns with 29 points, knocked down a jumper with seven seconds to go in the quarter and Louisiana led 15-11 at the end of the first frame.
The Trojans took their first lead of the game after Collins made a three-pointer to put Little Rock in front 22-20 with 7:37 left in the second period.
Gordon hit another jumper to help Louisiana regain the lead 25-24 with 3:37 to go in the second quarter.
Little Rock closed the period on a 12-4 run and Monique Townson had a layup at the buzzer to give the Trojans a 36-29 lead at halftime.
The Trojans carried the momentum into the second half and opened up the third quarter on a 9-2 run to take a 45-31 lead with 8:02 remaining in the period.
Little Rock saw its lead grow to 18 when Townson sunk two free throws with 11 seconds to go in the quarter and the Trojans led 63-45 at the end of the third frame.
Louisiana trimmed the lead to 65-55 when Gordon made a layup with 7:09 left in the game. That was as close as the Cajuns would come as hot shooting from the Trojans in the final minutes closed the window of opportunity.
The Cajuns will hit the road to face Georgia Southern on Thursday, Feb. 2 in Statesboro, Ga. Louisiana will then travel to play Georgia State on Saturday, Feb. 4 in Atlanta, Ga.
