LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns football team hits the road for the first time this season as it opens a two-game roadtrip beginning Saturday (Sept. 24) against Tulane at Yulman Stadium.

Kickoff for the game is slated for 7 p.m.

The game will be streamed live on ESPN3 with Joel Meyers (play-by-play) and Chad Brown (analyst) on the call. The game will also be carried statewide on the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Radio Network with Jay Walker (play-by-play), Richie Falgout (color) and Travis Webb (sideline) providing the commentary.

Louisiana (2-1, 1-0 SBC) opened Sun Belt Conference play last week with a 28-23 victory over South Alabama behind a 223-yard rushing performance from senior Elijah McGuire. Quarterback Anthony Jennings threw three TD passes while Al Riles caught six passes for a career-high 139 yards and a touchdown.

Tre'maine Lightfoot (10 tackles) and Otha Peters (nine tackles) led a defensive unit that allowed 74 yards on the ground and 338 yards of total offense.

Tulane (1-2, 0-1 AAC), under first-year coach Willie Fritz, dropped a 21-14 decision to Navy in the American Athletic Conference opener last week in New Orleans. The Green Wave opened the season with a 7-3 loss at Wake Forest before running away from in-state opponent Southern, 66-21.

The meeting between Louisiana and Tulane is the 28th in school history and is the first regular-season contest between the schools in the Crescent City since 1999. The Ragin' Cajuns claimed four of five regular-season meetings in New Orleans between 1988-95, including a 32-28 win in the 1995 contest at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

Elijah McGuire enters tonight's game needing 212 all-purpose yards to pass Tyrell Fenroy (5,231) as the Ragin' Cajuns all-time leader.
With 5,020 all-purpose yards in his career, McGuire is one of four active FBS players with 5,000 all-purpose yards.
McGuire enters tonight's contest tied with Alonzo Harris (270) for third-place in school history in scoring.
The Ragin' Cajuns have 21 players from the New Orleans Metropolitan Area (Orleans, Jefferson, St. Charles, St. John, St. Tammany and Plaquemines Parishes) on its 2016 roster.
Tonight's game is the fifth straight played in the state of Louisiana for the Ragin' Cajuns after playing their last four games at home dating back to the 2015 finale.

THE LAST MEETING - Louisiana 24, Tulane 21 (Dec. 21, 2013 • New Orleans, La.)
• Hunter Stover kicked a 27-yard field goal – the first of his collegiate career – with 9:56 remaining and the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns earned its third straight bowl victory when Tulane's Cairo Santos missed a potential tying 48-yard field goal in a 24-21 win over the Green Wave before an R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl-record crowd of 54,728 Saturday night at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
• Stover, who served as the Cajuns primary kickoff specialist before assuming all kicking duties against South Alabama, helped Louisiana stave off a furious comeback by Tulane (7-6) after Sean Thomas picked off his second pass of the game at the Tulane 28. The junior broke up a 21-21 contest after Terrance Broadway was injured on a three-yard scramble on third-and-10 to the Tulane 10.
• Tulane, playing in its final game after 38 years in the iconic downtown building, had one final chance to send the game to overtime after a Daniel Cadona punt was downed at the Tulane 5 with 1:35 remaining. Devin Powell connected with Justyn Shackleford on a 34-yard pass on third-and-10 to the Tulane 39 before a 27-yard pass to Ryan Grant pushed the ball to the Cajuns 34.
• After gaining 568 and 591 yards in victories over San Diego State (2011) and East Carolina (2012), Louisiana finished with 325 yards of total offense, including 168 on the ground. The Cajun defense picked off three Tulane passes with Thomas tying a bowl-record with two interceptions and Corey Trim returning an interception 82 yards to set a bowl record.
• Terrance Broadway, who returned to the lineup after suffering a broken arm in the Cajuns' home finale against ULM on Nov. 30, completed 12 of 19 passes for 143 yards while Elijah McGuire rushed for 45 yards on 11 carries while grabbing seven passes for 94. Alonzo Harris added 74 yards on the ground for Louisiana, who controlled the ball of over 36 minutes and held Tulane to 3-for-12 on third-down.

• Captains were Tre'maine Lightfoot (LB), Anthony Jennings (QB), Dominick Jones (DB) and Grant Horst (OL).
• Louisiana won the toss (first time in 2016) and elected to receive.
• Freshmen Tanner Holmes (LB) and Jacques Boudreaux (LB) each made their first appearances of the season, increasing Louisiana's total of new players to see action to 26.
• Al Riles' 139 receiving yards, including his 71-yard TD reception in the third quarter, were each career-highs.
• Elijah McGuire's 223 yards were the second most the senior in a single-game and the 10th 200-yard rushing performance in school history. McGuire joined former Louisiana QB and longtime NFL veteran Brian Mitchell as the only players in school history to rush for 200 yards in a game twice.

Quarterback Notebook
• Senior transfer Anthony Jennings tied a career-high with three passing touchdowns against South Alabama to lead the Ragin' Cajuns to a 28-23 victory. He passed for three touchdowns as a sophomore at LSU against Sam Houston State in 2014.
• Jennings posted a career-best 256 passing yards going 18-for-26 in the win over the Jaguars. His previous career-high for passing was 239 yards against 14th-ranked Wisconsin in the 2014 season opener for LSU.
• Jennings has thrown for a touchdown in all three games in 2016.
• Jennings accounted for three of the Cajuns four touchdowns in the win against McNeese. His two rushing touchdowns are a career-best. The last time Jennings rushed for a touchdown was in the first quarter of the 2013 Outback Bowl against Iowa.
• Jennings is averaging just over 10 carries per game on the season and is second on the team with 91 yards on 32 carries through three games.
• Jennings saw his first career action for the Ragin' Cajuns in the season opener against Boise State. He threw for 186 yards and a touchdown against the Broncos.
• Jennings also rushed 16 times in the contest picking up 18 yards on the ground despite losing 38 yards on five sacks.
• Jennings spent three seasons at LSU seeing action in 24 games including 13 starts. He passed for 1,611 yards and 11 touchdowns as a sophomore for the Tigers.
• Jennings rushed for 310 yards and two touchdowns in his career at LSU.
• Jennings earned his degree from LSU in August.
• Senior Jalen Nixon saw action at quarterback against Boise State rushing for 20 yards on three carries.
• Nixon had the second most experience among the quarterbacks coming into the season passing for 937 yards and eight touchdowns in three seasons.
• Nixon has rushed for 469 yards on 75 carries while finding the endzone five times in his career.
• Nixon started in four games for the Cajuns in 2016 including road games at Louisiana Tech and Arkansas State and home games Texas State and ULM.
• Nixon joined Brian Mitchell as the only Ragin' Cajuns quarterbacks to record 200 yards rushing and passing in a single-game after passing for 253 yards and two TDs while rushing for 201 yards and adding a 75-yard TD run.
• Nixon saw action in the Cajuns 2013 R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl appearance.
• Sophomore Jordan Davis saw limited action in three games as a freshman completing 26 of 41 passes for 256 yards and a touchdown.
• Davis' longest outing came in the series finale against Troy going 19-for-33 through the air for 196 yards and a touchdown.
• Davis recorded his only rushing touchdown of the season on the final drive of the game at Appalachian State. He went 7-for-7 through the air before capping the drive with a 20-yard TD run.

Running Back Notebook
• Senior Elijah McGuire became the first running back in school history to post multiple 200-yard rushing performances in a career after rushing for 223 yards on 23 carries against South Alabama. Brian Mitchell is the only other player in program history to record more than one 200-yard game for the Ragin' Cajuns with three in four seasons. The 200-yard performance is just the tenth in school history including McGuire's 265-yard game at Arkansas State in 2014.
• McGuire's fourth quarter touchdown against South Alabama moved him into a tie with former teammate Alonzo Harris on the Ragin' Cajuns career scoring list with 270 points in over three seasons. He is 16 points back of Brian Mitchell for second all-time with 286 points, while Tyrell Fenroy holds the school record with 294 points in four seasons.
• McGuire ranks second all-time in career rushing yards with 3,593 in over three seasons. He has passed both former teammate Alonzo Harris and Brian Mitchell on the all-time list this season. McGuire is 1,053 yards back of Tyrell Fenroy for the school record of 4,646.
• McGuire has 14 career 100-yard games including two this season. He rushed for 139 yards on 19 carries against McNeese.
• McGuire ranks sixth nationally in active career rushing yards and fourth in active career touchdowns.
• McGuire is the only active running back in the FBS to post 3,000 yards rushing and 1,000 yards receiving.
• McGuire holds the school career record for both receptions (107) and receiving yards (1,185) by a running back.Â
• McGuire is one of five players in program history to score six touchdowns in a game against New Mexico State on Sept. 12, 2015 against Northwestern State.
• McGuire has 535 career carries and is 24 carries away from moving into a tie for fifth place all time with Kenyon Cotton (559).

• Junior Darius Hoggins brings the second most experience into the season having rushed for 97 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries.
• Hoggins ripped off a career-best 58-yard against Northwestern State in 2015.
• Freshman Jordan Wright registered six carries for 20 yards against McNeese.
• Wright and Calais both have made at least one carry in all three of the Cajuns games in 2016.

Wide Receiver Notebook
• Senior Al Riles had a career game against South Alabama posting a career-best 139 yards receiving on eight catches and a touchdown. His touchdown came on a career-long reception of 71 yards.
• Riles became the second player on the Cajuns squad to post 1,000 career receiving yards joining Elijah McGuire after his 139-yard effort against South Alabama. He currently has 1,025 career yards and is averaging 11.1 yards per catch.
• Riles needs eight catches to reach 100 career catches for the Cajuns despite starting his career with the Cajuns on the defensive side of the ball in 2013. He switched to over to receiver as a sophomore.
• Sophomore Keenan Barnes found the end zone for the second time this season against the Jaguars. After making just one catch a year ago, he has reached paydirt on two of his six receptions this year.
• Redshirt freshmen Michael Jacquet registered his first career touchdown against South Alabama on his only catch of the game. He posted two catches for 17 yards in his first action as a Cajun against Boise State.
• Jacquet joins Ja'Marcus Bradley and Gabe Fuselier as the only freshmen to catch a touchdown pass in the Hudspeth era.
• Former Ragin' Cajuns quarterback Michael Desormeaux takes over as the new wide receivers coach in 2016. Desormeaux ranks fifth all-time in career rushing yards and ninth in passing yards in school history.
• Five Cajuns receivers have caught at least one pass in each of the last two games. Both Riles and Bradley are averaging 16 yards per catch through three games.
• Bradley was limited to just one catch against South Alabama after leading the Ragin' Cajuns in receptions the first two weeks of the season.
• Barnes posted the only touchdown for the Cajuns against Boise State. He made just one catch for 27 yards in 2015 seeing action in nine games as a true freshman.
• In 2015, Riles caught at least one pass in all 11 games that he saw action in, making nine starts.
• Riles recorded his first career 100-yard receiving game with 103 yards on eight receptions and a touchdown at Georgia State in 2015.
• Fuselier comes into 2016 as the second most experienced receiver on the corps behind Riles having hauled in 68 passes for 632 and three touchdowns in over two seasons.
• Fuselier notched 146 all-purpose yards at Kentucky after catching seven passes for 69 yards while adding four kickoff returns for 77 yards.
• Fuselier finished third overall on the team in all-purpose yards (642) in 2015.
• Sophomore Gary Haynes posted 25 grabs for 174 yards in 10 games as a true freshman.
• Junior Jared Johnson saw his first action in over a year against McNeese after missing the 2015 season with a torn ACL. He recorded 161 yards and three touchdowns on 16 catches in two seasons.
• All three of Johnson's touchdowns came during his sophomore campaign.
• The Ragin' Cajuns will be without the services of senior Devin Scott after suffering a season-ending injury during summer workouts. Scott has posted 326 yards receiving over three seasons on 18 catches.

Tight End Notebook
• Senior Nick Byrne posted a career-long catch of 28 yards against South Alabama totaling 31 yards on three receptions in the win.
• Both Byrne and sophomore Matt Barnes recorded a pair of receptions against Boise State.
• Byrne has accounted for 21 of the 24 catches among returning players at the position.
• Byrne has 169 yards receiving in four seasons posting a career-best 83 yards in 2015.
• Byrne saw action in all 12 games a year ago making 11 starts.
• Byrne recorded a career-high four receptions for 38 yards in the Cajuns' non-conference game against Akron a year ago.
• Barnes returns after missing the 2015 season due to a knee injury suffered during spring practice.
• Barnes played in 10 games as a reserve tight end and special teams member in 2014.
• Freshmen Carlos Robinson and Cody Mitchell add depth at the position.

Offensive Line Notebook
• The Ragin' Cajuns return five offensive linemen who made at least one start in 2015 with senior Eddie Gordon and junior Grant Horst making double-digit starts.
• Gordon started in all 12 games in 2015 including 11 starts at center. He appeared in six games as a reserve lineman in 2014 at both center and right guard.
• Horst started in 10 games during the 2015 season at four different positions: left tackle (5), left guard (3), center (1) and right guard (1). He appeared in six games as a freshman as a reserve offensive lineman.
• Junior D'Aquin Withrow played in nine games during the 2015 season, starting in seven straight games for the Cajuns at left tackle.
• Freshman Robert Hunt has started in all three games for the Ragin' Cajuns at left guard.
• Kevin Dotson has started the last two games at right guard. His first career start came against McNeese.
• Sophomore Adrian Goodacre saw action in all 12 games in 2015, serving primarily as a reserve offensive lineman and a member of the Ragin' Cajuns PAT unit.
• Goodacre made two starts at right guard as a true freshman.

Defensive Line Notebook
• The Ragin' Cajuns made a change from a three defensive lineman scheme against Boise State to a four defensive lineman look against McNeese and South Alabama.
• Junior Taboris Lee had the most tackles among defensive lineman against South Alabama making five stops for the second straight contest. He also had 1.5 tackles-for-loss (TFL) on the night.
• Kevon Perry, Jarvis Jeffries and Ladarrius Kidd each had four tackles in the win over the Jaguars. The trio combined for 3.5 TFL and a sack.
• Lee and Trev Miller both had five tackles in the win over McNeese. Miller had a career game posting 3.5 tackles-for-loss (TFL) and 3.0 sacks. Miller's three sacks gives him the team lead and equals the most sacks by any defensive lineman in all of the 2015 season.
• Miller is tied with Otha Peters for the team lead in TFL with 3.5. He leads the team with 3.0 sacks.
• Sophomore Mario Osborne had a career-high four stops including 2.0 TFL against the Cowboys.
• Perry led the defensive line with four tackles including 1.5 TFL, a half sack and a forced fumble against Boise State.
• Lee anchors the defensive line after leading the group and finishing seventh overall in tackles (40) in 2015.
• Lee along with linebacker Otha Peters were two of the only three defensive players to start in all 12 games for the Ragin' Cajuns in 2015.
• Lee led all defensive linemen with 5.0 tackles-for-loss (TFL) in 2015.
• Senior Karmichael Dunbar has the second most tackles among returning D-Linemen from a year ago recording 23 stops including 3.0 TFL. He had two stops in the season opener against Boise State.
• Both Lee and Dunbar were named to the Preseason All-Sun Belt Conference Second Team.
• Dunbar appeared in all 12 games for the Ragin' Cajuns in 2015 while earning nine starts at defensive tackle. He saw action in 10 games in his first two seasons with the Cajuns.
• Osborne's 2.0 sacks leads all returning defensive lineman from a year ago. Lee is the only other Cajuns D-Lineman on this year's squad to post a sack.
• Osborne played in nine games as a true freshman, recording seven tackles with three stops for loss.

Linebacker Notebook
• Senior Otha Peters takes over as both the leader of the linebacker corps and the defense with the departure of Dominique Tovell. Peters was the third-leading tackler for the Ragin' Cajuns a year ago, recording 68 stops (41 solo) and six tackles-for-loss (TFL).
• An honorable mention All-Sun Belt selection in 2015, Peters was tabbed to the Preseason All-Sun Belt Conference Second Team.
• Peters ranks third on the team in total tackles with 20 this season and is tied for the team lead in TFL with 3.5.
• Senior Tre'maine Lightfoot led the Cajuns with a career-high 10 tackles against South Alabama. He ranks second on the team in tackles this season with 23.
• Peters also made a major contribution in the win over the Jags with nine stops, 1.5 TFL, a sack, a forced fumble and two pass breakups.
• Lightfoot also had a good showing against the Cowboys registering seven tackles with 1.0 TFL. He had six stops including 1.5 TFL and a half sack against Boise State.
• Freshmen Joe Dillon has posted 1.0 TFL in back-to-back contests. He notched his first career sack on his only tackle against McNeese.
• Senior Trey Granier missed the South Alabama contest due to a concussion.
• Granier had the second most tackles by a Cajuns player in the win over McNeese posting eight stops including a TFL and sack.Â
• Damar'ren Mitchell is fourth on the team in tackles with 13. He had a season-best six tackles against McNeese.
• Peters had the second most tackles against Boise State with eight stops including a team-best 2.0 TFL.
• Lightfoot appeared in nine games with two starts in 2015. He finished the year ranked eighth on the team with 31 tackles with 3.5 tackles-for-loss.
• Junior T.J. Posey notched the second most starts among returning linebackers with four in 12 games a year ago. He posted 23 tackles and 0.5 TFL.
• Freshman Alonzo Brown will miss the rest of the season due to an injury suffered against McNeese. He recorded five tackles in his first game with the Ragin' Cajuns against Boise State with three solo stops.

Secondary Notebook
• Junior Travis Crawford continues to lead the Cajuns in tackles with 28 after week three of play. He registered a team-high for tackles in back-to-back games to start the year with a career-best 11 stops against McNeese. He had a team-best 10 tackles against Boise State in the season opener.
• Crawford had seven tackles in the win over South Alabama.
• Crawford played in 11 games for the Ragin' Cajuns, earning seven starts in 2015. He finished the season in fifth on the team in tackles (45) while also registering four pass breakups.
• Junior Tracy Walker returned to the secondary against McNeese after moving to linebacker to start the season against Boise State turning in three tackles against the Broncos.
• Walker ranks fifth on the team and second in the secondary in tackles with 12 on the season. He tallied three stops and his first career fumble recovery in the win over South Alabama.
• Walker and Levarious Varnado both had six stops in the win over McNeese.
• Walker was the second-leading tackler for the Ragin' Cajuns in 2015, recording 74 tackles (54 solo) with 5.0 TFL.
• Walker joined Peters on the Preseason All-Sun Belt Conference Second Team.
• Walker has three career interceptions and 130 career stops. His three interceptions are tied with cornerback Savion Brown for the most among active players.
• Junior Troy McCollum had two of the Cajuns three pass breakups against Boise State to lead the squad this season. He had five tackles and a 0.5 TFL against McNeese.
• McCollum ranked second in the Sun Belt in 2015 in passes defended with a team-best 11 pass breakups. He had a season-best three pass breakups against New Mexico State.
• McCollum played in 10 games on the season with eight starts at cornerback. He recorded 18 tackles including a season-high four tackles at South Alabama.
• Senior Savion Brown is indefinitely suspended for a violation of team rules.
• Brown was tabbed to the Preseason All-Sun Belt Conference First Team. He received second-team All-Sun Belt Conference honors in 2015.
• Brown posted 43 tackles, three interceptions, six pass breakups and a fumble recovery in his junior campaign.
• Brown's three interceptions ranked tied for fifth in the Sun Belt, while his six pass breakups was tied for second best on the squad a year ago.
• Brown recorded a season-high seven tackles and ran back an interception 85 yards for a pick six at South Alabama. The interception return is the fifth-longest in school history.
• Junior Simeon Thomas had seven tackles against Boise State. It was his first action in over two years after missing both the 2014 and 2015 seasons.
• Thomas saw action in nine games as a freshman serving as a reserve cornerback and special teams performer. Posted eight tackles in 2013.
• Newcomers Denarius Howard and Artez Williams have seen action in both games for the Cajuns in the secondary.
• Dominick Jones notched four tackles in the season opener against Boise State, he has eight on the season.
• Jones has posted 49 tackles in 39 games including 4.5 tackles-for-loss. He also has 2.0 sacks, an interception and three pass breakups in his career with the Cajuns.
• Jones made three starts for the Ragin' Cajuns a year ago.

Punting Notebook
• Sophomore Steven Coutts is averaging 41.7 yards per punt this season. He opened the season with a 45.2-yard average on six punts against Boise State.
• Coutts is coming off of a stellar freshman campaign where he averaged 42.4 yards per attempt – the third-best average among all NCAA Division I freshmen.
• Coutts has pinned at least one punt inside the 20 in all three games this season.
• Coutts pinned two of his six punts against the Broncos inside the 20 and had a game-best 54-yard punt in the first half.
• Coutts was named to the Sun Belt Newcomer Team after finishing among the league leaders in punting.
• Coutts also was tabbed a second-team selection on the All-Louisiana (LSWA) College Football team.
• Coutts had 14 punts of 50 yards or more during the season, including a season-best 64-yard boot at Arkansas State. He averaged 51.2 yards per punt in six attempts at A-State.
• Coutts pinned 22 punts inside the opponent's 20-yard line and forced 27 fair catches.
• Coutts totaled 2,501 yards on 59 punts during his freshman season.

• Sophomore Dylan Scheurich made his debut for the Cajuns against South Alabama connecting on a PAT.
• Sophomore Stevie Artigue went 1-for-2 on field goal attempts against the Jaguars converting from 31 yards while missing from 40 yards out. He also missed two PATs in the contest.
• Artigue connected on his only attempt against McNeese with a 17-yard field goal. He went 1-for-2 on a pair of 44-yard field goal attempts against Boise State.
• Artigue served as the team's primary kicking specialist as a true freshman, converting 26 for 28 PAT attempts and 8 of 15 field goals.
• Artigue finished second on the team in scoring with 50 points.
• Artigue recorded a career-best three field goals in back-to-back games against ULM and Georgia State.
• Artigue posted a career-long 49-yard kick in the third quarter at Georgia State in 2015.
• Artigue kicked off 51 times in 2015 with seven touchbacks. He averaged 56.7 yards per kickoff.

Special Teams Notebook
• True freshman Raymond Calais has returned kicks in all three contests this season. He posted a season-best 87 yards on four returns against McNeese with a career-best 37-yard return that sparked the Ragin' Cajuns offense in the second half.
• Calais has returned at least three kicks in all three contests registering 68 yards against South Alabama and 75 yards in the season opener against Boise State.
• Both Elijah McGuire and Gary Haynes will spend time returning punts for the Cajuns in 2016. Haynes had two punt returns in the McNeese contest.
• Haynes returned a season-best 12 punts for a 10.5 yard average including a career-long 42-yard return against Georgia State.
• McGuire returned nine punts for an 8.9 yard average a year ago. He had a season-best 37-yard return against Texas State.
