LAFAYETTE, La. – The 14th-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball team is set to host its third NCAA regional in program history as the squad opens the 2016 Lafayette Regional with a 7 p.m. contest against fourth-seeded Princeton on Friday at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field.

The winner of the contest will face the winner of the Arizona/Sam Houston State contest on Saturday at 7 p.m., while the two losing teams will meet at 1 p.m. the same day. The Wildcats and Bearkats meet at 1 p.m. on Friday at The Tigue.

Every game at the Lafayette Regional will be broadcast on ESPN3 with Brett Dolan and Tom Holliday making the call. Fans can also listen to all the Louisiana games on News Talk 96.5 KPEL-FM with Jay Walker calling the action.

The Cajuns (41-19) are making their 16th appearance in NCAA postseason play and are riding a 10-game win streak. The Ragin' Cajuns are coming off of a 4-0 week at the Sun Belt Conference tournament including a 5-0 shutout of Georgia Southern in the championship game.

Louisiana will tab freshman right-hander Nick Lee to take the bump in the opener against the Tigers (24-19). Lee leads the team with a 7-1 record and has a 3.18 ERA in 15 starts. Princeton will start right-hander Chad Powers. Powers is 6-3 with a team-best 2.07 ERA in 10 starts.

Offensively, the Ragin' Cajuns are hitting .276 with 114 doubles, 13 triples and 40 home runs. Louisiana is averaging 5.6 runs per game as Brenn Conrad leads the team with 41 RBI coming on 16 doubles and four home runs.

Senior Kyle Clement has a team-best .355 average with 14 doubles, a triple, three home runs and 22 RBI, while Alex Pinero is second on the club in average hitting .305 with five doubles, a triple, two home runs and 23 RBI.

The meeting with the Tigers is the first in program history for the Cajuns. The Ragin' Cajuns are 7-0 all-time against teams from the Ivy League going 4-0 against Dartmouth and 3-0 against Harvard.

Princeton won two out of three games against Yale to claim the Ivy League championship wining the final game 2-1 to take the title.

As a team, the Tigers are hitting .261 and are averaging 5.1 runs per game with 65 doubles, seven triples and 20 home runs.

Jesper Horsted paces the team at the plate hitting .326 with five doubles, two triples and 12 RBI. Nick Hernandez has a team-best 32 RBI, while Danny Hoy is hitting .317 with 11 doubles, five home runs and 26 RBI.
