LAFAYETTE – Winners of four of their last six matches, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis team wraps up its home schedule when it plays host to Xavier (La.) in a noon doubleheader on Sunday, April 3 at Cajun Courts.
Admission to both matches is free. The Ragin' Cajuns will honor seniors Edgar Lopez and Jake Wynan prior to the opening match.
Louisiana enters Sunday's home finale with a record of 13-10 this season and has won four of its last six matches. A win over Xavier (10-3) would match last season's win total for the Ragin' Cajuns with two regular season matches remaining.
Two of the Cajuns' five doubles sweeps have come in their two most recent outings against Brown University and Jackson State.
Lopez leads Louisiana with 11 singles wins and is 5-2 in his last seven matches. Junior Coleman Wahlborg (9-8) and freshman Arthur Libaud (9-5) are both one victory away from double-digit singles wins this season for the Ragin' Cajuns.
At doubles, the combination of Lopez and junior Eric Perez own a team-best 14-6 record and have won their last four matches and nine of their last 10.
Xavier, ranked No. 3 nationally in the NAIA polls, has won five consecutive matches heading into a Saturday home match against Prairie View, and has posted wins over Division I programs Nicholls State and Troy this season.
The Gold Rush, who faces Louisiana in the second of six straight matches against Division I competition, is 4-2 on the road this season with their two losses coming in their season-opener at Louisiana (7-0, 4-0) on Jan. 18.
