Women's Tennis Wins 4-0 Over Grambling State

LAFAYETTE -- The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis team returned to action on Sunday morning, cruising to a 4-0 victory over visiting Grambling State at Cajun Courts.
The win improved Louisiana's record to 7-6 this season.
"It was great for us to get another match at home," Ragin' Cajuns head coach Stephanie Vallejos said. "We enjoy every chance we get to compete on our courts and the girls are enjoying the competition together."
The Cajuns swept doubles over Grambling State, as the duo of junior Alexandra Way and sophomore Abby Johnson defeated Phonepha Philavvong and Tafadswa Chiridza, 6-0 at No. 1. Senior Juliette Clement and sophomore Elena Sava ended doubles at No. 2 with a 6-2 victory over Keren Muswere and Joy Jones.
In singles play, Louisiana earned a single point via forfeit at No. 6. The Cajuns made quick work of Grambling State the rest of the way as Johnson picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win over Jones at the No. 4 spot, while Clement clinched the match victory with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Tanyaradzwa Magunje.
Johnson and Way improved to 6-5 in doubles play, while Clement and Sava moved to 6-3.
The Ragin' Cajuns next will host Western Kentucky this Tuesday, March 8 for a 3:30 p.m. first serve at Cajun Courts.
