Women's Tennis Comes Up Short vs. No. 50 UT Arlington

LAFAYETTE -- The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis team fell to No. 50 UT Arlington by a 4-0 final at Cajun Courts Saturday afternoon.
The loss dropped the Cajuns record to 8-9 this spring.
"We competed against an agressive team today and depsite the outcome, we enjoyed the change of pace," Ragin' Cajuns head coach Stephanie Vallejos said. "Our last few matches have been tough on us, but we still have confidence in our players that we can still pull a few more good days out and that we won't give up on improving."
The Lady Mavericks took the doubles point in a sweep. Jessica Birowski and Astrid Gehre defeated junior Alexandra Way and sophomore Abby Johnson, 6-1 at No. 2. Valieria Lopez and Agustina Serio finished doubles at No. 3 with a 6-4 victory over the UL duo of senior Juliette Clement and sophomore Elena Sava.
UT Arlington's Elizabeth Thoms defeated Sava, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 in singles. Serio followed up with an identical 6-1, 6-1 victory over Jonson at No. 4, while Gehre won 6-1, 6-1 vs. junior Dana Brankovic.
The Cajuns are off until Friday, April 8 at Texas State. First serve is set for 1:30 p.m.
