Men's Tennis Falls to No. 35 Drake, 4-1

LAFAYETTE -- The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis team fell to No. 35-ranked Drake, 4-1 on Saturday afternoon at Cajun Courts.
The loss drops the Cajuns record to 5-5 this spring.
"We came out firing in doubles and the crowd really helped us," Ragin' Cajuns head coach Mark Jeffrey said. "We won the doubles point, which gave us a big lift.
"We won three of the first six sets in singles but tables turned at No. 2 singles, which hurt our momentum. Then Vlad Kramarov went down so the match really turned on us. I felt the key match was at No. 1. I would have to say we were favorites to win that match so that was a hard one to swallow losing at one. With Edgar [Lopez] and Eric [Perez] about to close out I felt Drake was lucky to walk out of here with the win."
The Cajuns earned the doubles point with victories from Jake Wynan and Coleman Wahlborg at No. 1 singles over Bayo Philips and Vinny Gillespie, 6-4, and a win from Edgar Lopez and Eric Perez over Ben Lott and Calum MacGeoch, 6-2.
No. 35 Drake went on to sweep singles to take the match, 4-1. At No. 1 singles, Philips defeated Wynan, 7-6, 7-6. Lott prevailed over Libaud in three sets, 4-6, 6-2, 6-1, while MacGeoch beat Vlad Kramarov, 7-6, 6-4.
Drake's Ben Clark took No. 4 singles over Will Huyton, 7-5, 6-3.
The Cajuns return to action next Thursday, Feb. 25 against Troy for a 2:30 p.m. first serve at Cajun Courts.
