Women's Tennis and Southern Miss to Meet on Saturday

LAFAYETTE -- The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns are coming off a 4-3 win against UTSA on Thursday and look to build on that victory this Saturday, Feb. 20 vs. Southern Miss. First serve is slated for 10 a.m. at Cajun Courts.
The Ragin' Cajuns currently sit at 5-4 this season. They came away with a victory over the Roadrunners in a match that was decided on the final singles match. Junior Dana Brankovic defeated NIcole Karaklis, 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 at No. 4 singles to push Louisiana to a 4-3 victory.
The Cajuns enter Saturday with winning records in both singles (28-23) and doubles(13-7) play this spring. Senior Melissa Burckhartt and sophomore Kelly Drew both have six singles victories, while junior Alexandra Way is 5-2 this spring.
Burckhartt and Drew are also 5-2 as a duo in doubles play, while Way and sophomore Abby Johnson are 5-3 this season. Burckhartt and Drew have won three of the past four doubles matches they have completed.
Southern Miss comes into Saturday with an undefeated 6-0 record and are 1-0 on the road. Claudia Castella, Tiasa Jerse and Alex Kitchen each own eight singles wins this spring. Carolin Drescher and Kitchen are 6-2 in doubles play, the best record among Southern Miss players.
