Women's Tennis to Host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi

LAFAYETTE -- The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis team looks to get back on the winning track after dropping a pair of close matches with South Alabama and No. 67 North Carolina State last week. The Cajuns host the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Islanders for an 11 a.m. first serve at Cajun Courts Wednesday, Feb. 17.
The Cajuns have performed well in both singles and doubles play this season with a 25-17 mark in singles and an 11-4 record in doubles.
Sophomore Kelly Drew has led the Cajuns in singles play this spring, winning six of her first seven matches. She boasts a 5-1 record at No. 1 singles in 2016. Senior Melissa Burckhartt is enters the week at 5-2 in singles play, the second most wins among Cajuns.
Drew and Burckhartt are one of two UL duos who are 4-2 this season. Sophomore Abby Johnson and junior Alexandra Way have also won four of their first six doubles matchups. Senior Juliette Clement and sophomore Elena Sava have yet to be defeated in doubles this spring, coming into the week with a 3-0 record together.
The Islanders come to Lafayette with a 5-0 record this spring. Their last match was vs. UTEP last Friday, Feb. 12, a 6-1 victory.
