LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball team brings a 9-1 home record into this Thursday's game against Arkansas State.

Louisiana lost the season's first meeting against Arkansas State, 83-56 in Jonesboro on Jan. 9. Senior Keke Veal led all UL scorers in that game with 18 points. Sophomore forward Simone Fields added 15 points.

In 10 games at home this season, the Cajuns are outscoring opponents by an average score of 64.1-45.9 (a margin of plus-18.2).

Last Thursday's game at Appalachian State snapped a seven-game streak for Louisiana in which they held their opponent to under 60 points.

Setting the Scene: The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns (16-5, 9-3 SBC) return home for a two-game stint this week against Arkansas State and Little Rock. The Cajuns look to avenge an 83-56 loss at the hands of the Red Wolves back on Jan. 9 in Jonesboro. Louisiana will try and snap a three-game skid against Arkansas State and win extend their home win streak to three games against the Red Wolves.

Arkansas State enters the week in first place in the Sun Belt Conference with an 18-3 record and a perfect 12-0 mark in conference play. Louisiana can pull to within two games of Arkansas State with a win on Thursday.

The Red Wolves are averaging 14.7 assists per game this season - the most among Sun Belt Conference schools. They are also tied for first with the Cajuns in turnover margin (plus-6.4) and first in assist-turnover ratio (1.1). Senior forward Khadi Brown-Haywood leads the conference in rebounding, pulling down an average of 9.6 boards per game. Redshirt-senior guard Aundrea Gamble ranks second in the conference in scoring average with 18.0 points per contest.

Cajuns senior guard Keke Veal is currently sixth in the Sun Belt Conference in scoring, averaging 15.1 points per outing. Sophomore forward Simone Fields is fifth in field goal percentage at .521 (61-of-117).

Coach Brodhead at the Helm: Louisiana head coach Garry Brodhead is in his fourth season at the helm of the Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball program, finishing with 23 wins last season, the most in a single season since 2006-07 (25). Brodhead guided the team to 15 victories at home in 2014-15, a program record. He passed Ross Cook (57) to move into sole possession of second place on the program's all-time wins list with his 58th victory on January 14. Brodhead trails only J. Kelley Hall (86) for the most wins by a coach in Ragin' Cajuns history.

Turnover Margin Numbers: Entering the week, the Cajuns rank seventh in the NCAA in turnover margin at plus-6.3 (294 turnovers vs. 428 turnovers forced).

Top 25 Defense: Louisiana is ranked 25th in scoring defense in the NCAA with their 54.8 points allowed per game. They are also 21st in the nation in turnovers forced at 20.38 per contest.

Veal Climbs Scoring Ranks: Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns senior guard Keke Veal scored a game-high 27 points to move into third place on UL's all-time scoring list at Appalachian State on Feb. 4. The 27 points bumped her career total to 1,372, passing Teena Cooper (1,358).

Fields' Career Game: Sophomore forward Simone Fields scored a career-high 19 points against ULM back on Feb. 2. Fields is the only other Cajun besides Keke Veal, Kia Wilridge and Jaylyn Gordon to lead Louisiana in scoring in a game this season (accomplished twice - vs. SUNO on Nov. 19). She also tied her career high in rebounds with 10 against the Warhawks in that game.

Defense in Conference Games: Through 12 conference games, the Cajuns are holding opponents to 54.8 points per contest (second to Little Rock at 52.8).

Three-Point Drought: In the last two games, the Cajuns offense has made just two three-pointers in 20 attempts (10%). In the three previous games from Jan. 21-28, the Cajuns made 14 three-pointers).

Double-Double Numbers: Sophomore forward Simone Fields recorded a double-double against ULM back on Feb. 2, finishing with 19 points and 10 rebounds. It was just the second double-double for a Cajuns player this season. Senior Kia Wilridge had the first such game on Dec. 15 against UC Santa Barbara with 14 points and 13 rebounds.
