Gordon Scores 20 As Ragin' Cajuns Defeat SUNO, 87-57

LAFAYETTE – Jaylyn Gordon scored 20 points and Jasmine Thomas added 17 as the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns defeated Southern-New Orleans 87-57 on Saturday evening at the Cajundome.
Louisiana (4-2) had a double-double performance from freshman Brittney Myles with 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Southern-New Orleans (2-6) led 7-6 with 7:18 left in the first quarter after Janica Diaz scored the first seven points for the Lady Knights.
The Cajuns then went on a 17-4 run to lead 23-11 with 3:23 left in the first quarter. A three-pointer from Troi Swain extended the Louisiana lead to 32-15 with 1:44 left in opening period.
Diaz scored a layup to cut the Cajuns lead to 32-17 at the end of the first quarter.
Louisiana went on an 11-0 run to open up the second period and led 43-17 when Gordon made a layup with 6:21 left in the second quarter.
SUNO closed the second period on a 17-6 run to cut the Louisiana lead to 49-34 at halftime.
The Cajuns led 62-36 when Gordon connected on a three-pointer with 5:52 left in the third quarter. Louisiana extended its lead to 73-45 at the end of the third period.
Louisiana led by as many as 32 in the final frame on its way to a second consecutive win.
Diaz led the SUNO with 19 points while Julia Alexander had 13 for the Lady Knights.
Louisiana will return to action on Wednesday, December 14 when it hosts Houston in the Third Annual Education game at 11 a.m. in the Cajundome.
