LAFAYETTE – The Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball team looks to get back on the winning track after they had their four-game win streak snapped against Texas State this past Thursday, 46-42 at the Cajundome. 
 
Saturday's game is McDonald's Family Fun Pack Day, which includes four tickets and four extra value meals for $20. Saturday is also Report Card Night. Students are encouraged to bring their report card with straight A's, which will admit them free into a 300-level seat at the Cajundome. Also, Scout Night will be taking place at the Cajundome. All scouts in uniform get a free 300-level ticket. Finally, there will be an Airplane Toss K2 Cooler Giveaway at the women's game.
 
Louisiana is off to their best conference start since 1983-84 (7-2) when the team started 6-2 (finished 9-3 in Southland Conference that season).
 
Fourth-year head coach Garry Brodhead passed Ross Cook for sole possession of second place for most wins in program history with 58 in the Cajuns' 56-39 win at Georgia Southern on Jan. 14. Brodhead is currently at 61 career wins and trails only J. Kelley Hall (86 wins) on the Cajuns all-time coaching ledger.
 
Louisiana's defense has forced seven or most steals over the last five games. They have accumulated 161 steals this season.
 
Setting the Scene: The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns (14-4, 7-2 SBC) saw their four-game win streak snapped at the hands of the Texas State Bobcats this past Thursday. Louisiana sits in second place in the Sun Belt Conference standings and is two games behind Arkansas State.

The Cajuns had their seven-game home win streak snapped in the loss to Texas State. Louisiana had also won their last 11 overall at home which included the postseason from last year's WBI.

Senior Keke Veal leads all active Cajuns with an average of 14.6 points per game to go with 3.2 boards per outing. She is first in steals (35) and has knocked down 18 three-pointers.

UT Arlington snapped a three-game losing skid following a 60-50 win at ULM this past Thursday. Sophomores guard Cierra Johnson (10.9) and Rebekah VanDijk (10.7) and redshirt senior Amara Wainwright (10.2) are each averaging double-figure points this season. Johnson leads the Sun Belt Conference with 59 steals.
 
Coach Brodhead at the Helm: Louisiana head coach Garry Brodhead is in his fourth season at the helm of the Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball program, finishing with 23 wins last season, the most in a single season since 2006-07 (25). Brodhead guided the team to 15 victories at home in 2014-15, a program record. He passed Ross Cook (57) to move into sole possession of second place on the program's all-time wins list with his 58th victory on January 14. Brodhead trails only J. Kelley Hall (86) for the most wins by a coach in Ragin' Cajuns history.
 
Cajuns In the Rankings: The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball team maintained its hold on the 22nd spot in the CollegeInsider.com Top 25 Women's Mid-Major rankings, released this past Tuesday. The Cajuns and Arkansas State (No. 10) are one of two Sun Belt Conference schools among the Top 25 in this week's rankings.
 
First Half Success: The Cajuns have gone into halftime leading in 13 of the 18 games they've played this season. They lost their first game when leading at halftime this past Thursday against Texas State, falling to 12-1 in such games.
 
Cooper's Block Party: Louisiana freshman center Breionne Cooper owns a team-high 11 blocked shots this season. The 11 blocks are the most for a Cajun in a single season since 2012-13 (Keke Veal, Jasmin Mills, Robbie Brown each had 10 that season).
 
Veal Continues Points Chase: Cajuns senior guard Keke Veal brings 1,317 career points into the Texas State game this Thursday. She is 41 points away from tying Teena Cooper (1,358) for third place in the Cajuns record books.
 
Crashing the Boards: Over their past nine games, the Cajuns have pulled down at least 31 rebounds per contest. They are 7-2 in those games and are 14-2 this season when recording at least 30 rebounds. The Cajuns recorded 40 rebounds in the loss against Texas State this past Thursday - the fifth time they've recorded at least that many boards. This season, Louisiana is 4-1 in those games.
 
Defense in Conference Games: Through nine conference games, the Cajuns are holding opponents to a conference-low 54.3 points per contest. They are also coming up with 8.2 steals per conference game, fourth-most among SBC schools.
 
Free Throw Numbers:  In the last three home games, the Cajuns have failed to reach at least 20 free throw attempts twice. Against South Alabama and Texas State, they attempted only 23 total shots from the charity stripe.
 
Opponent Woes: Louisiana's defense has held its last three opponents under 40% shooting from the floor. The Cajuns limited Texas State to a .293 shooting percentage, the third-lowest total for a UL opponent this season.
 
Margin of Victory: The Cajuns are one of two Sun Belt Conference schools (Arkansas State) to register a double-digit scoring margin. Louisiana is outscoring opponents by an average of 10.6 points per contest. 
 
What's Next? The Cajuns host ULM this Tuesday, Feb. 2 for a 5 p.m. tip-off.
