Cajuns, Panthers To Square Off In Atlanta

ATLANTA – Coming off its first road win of the 2015-16 season, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball returns to action on Saturday (Jan. 16) when it faces Georgia State in a Sun Belt Conference game at the GSU Sports Arena.
 
Tipoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. CT and will be televised by ESPN3. The game can also be heard in the Lafayette area on Hot 107.9-FM and on the internet at RaginCajuns.com.
 
Louisiana (6-8, 2-3 SBC) recorded a 74-65 win over Georgia Southern on Thursday – its first-ever win against the Eagles in Statesboro and its first road win in nine games. Shawn Long posted his 10th double-double of the season and 62nd of his career with 23 points and a season-high 17 rebounds. Steven Wronkoski added a season-high 10 points for the Ragin' Cajuns with Kasey Shepherd adding nine and Jay Wright eight.
 
The Ragin' Cajuns will face a Georgia State squad (11-3, 4-1 SBC) that dismantled ULM on Thursday, 64-51. The Panthers, who are fifth nationally in scoring defense (59.9 ppg.), have won 15 straight games at GSU Arena and are 33-1 since the start of the 2013-14 season.

• Georgia State recorded a 66-51 win over ULM on Thursday to win its fifth straight game overall and 15th consecutive contest at GSU Sports Arena. The Panthers are ranked among the national leaders in scoring defense, allowing 59.9 points per game.
 
• A pair of Division I transfers - Jeremy Hollowell (Indiana) and Kevin Ware (Louisville) - lead Georgia State in scoring, averaging 15.4 and 13.0 points respectively. Isaiah Williams (9.1) and Markus Crider (8.8) are next in scoring for the Panthers, who average 66.9 points per game.
 
UP NEXT
• Louisiana will return home to begin a season-long five-game homestand beginning Thursday (Jan. 21) against South Alabama at the Cajundome. The Ragin' Cajuns will close out the month hosting Troy (Jan. 23) in an ESPN3 contest before facing Texas State (Jan. 28) and UT Arlington (Jan. 30). Louisiana will close out the homestand on Feb. 2 against in-state rival ULM.
