REGULAR SEASON HOME SCHEDULE COMES TO A CLOSE
No. 9 Louisiana closes out the home portion of the regular season schedule on Wednesday, April 15 hosting Houston in a 6 p.m., single game.
 
FIRST SUN BELT SERIES WITH APP STATE THIS WEEKEND
The Cajuns return to Sun Belt Conference play in Boone, N.C., visiting Appalachian State Saturday-Sunday, April 18-19 for the first-ever Sun Belt series between the two programs.
 
LEXIE JOINS PROGRAM'S GREAT SLUGGERS
With 20 home runs, Lexie Elkins reached the mark for the second straight season (hit 24 in 2014). She joins Danyele Gomez (UL Hall of Famer), Christi Orgeron and Holly Tankersley as the only players in school history to reach 20 home runs twice in a career.

On a day in which the Ragin' Cajuns honored former head coach Yvette Girouard, the team swept a doubleheader from Houston by scores of 9-1 (5 inn.) and 10-5. Sarah Draheim went 3-for-3 with a home run and four RBI and Jordan Wallace struck out 10 while limiting the Cougars to two hits in the opener. Louisiana scored five runs in the fifth inning of Game 2 to stretch the lead to 10-3. A Shellie Landry solo home run, two-run double by Nerissa Myers, RBI single from Draheim and RBI double by Matte Haack fueled the Cajuns offense. Kristin Martinez and Jordan Wallace held UH to two runs in a combined 4-2/3 innings in relief of Christina Hamilton.

DIAMOND NOTES

• With the doubleheader sweep of No. 14 Baylor last Saturday, the Ragin' Cajuns improved to 5-3 against ranked foes in 2015.
 
• All five of the Cajuns wins in April have come over teams ranked in the Top 40 of the NCAA RPI: Georgia State (#37 on Mar. 30) and Baylor (#30 on Apr. 7).
 
• Lexie Elkins was the national leader in home runs March 29-April 11. She currently is No. 2 with 20 home runs, trailing Oklahoma's Shelby Pendley (21) by one home run.
 
• Saturday's 3-1 win over No. 14 Baylor was senior pitcher Jordan Wallace's third win over a ranked team in 2015. Wallace is 3-1 vs. ranked foes this season with wins over #4 Alabama (Feb. 28), #24 South Alabama (Mar. 7) and #14 Baylor (Apr. 11).
 
• Jordan Wallace's win over Baylor marked the 12th of her career over a ranked opponent. Wallace has a 12-11 career record vs. ranked teams.
 
• Haley Hayden has an active reached-base streak of 26 games. The career-best streak began Feb. 21 vs. Hofstra.
 
• Leandra Maly's three hits in Game 2 vs. Baylor increased her season total to 30, matching her highest output in a Cajuns uniform set back in 2013.
 
• Kelsey Vincent's 11 home runs (nine in Sun Belt play) are a career-high. She currently has 27 RBI, equaling her career-best output established in 2014.
 
• True freshman DJ Sanders has made just three errors through the first 100 chances that have come her way at shortstop (49 PO, 48 A, 3E).
 
• Shellie Landry's double in Game 2 vs. Baylor was her 25th extra-base hit, setting a new career-high. Her 15 home runs match her career-best set as a freshman in 2013.
 
• The Ragin' Cajuns are 6-for-6 in picking up Sun Belt series victories. Louisiana has won 19 straight Sun Belt Conference series dating back to 2013 (last series loss was March 16-17, 2013 at South Alabama).
 
• The Cajuns can clinch a bye in quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Tournament with either a sweep of Appalachian State, or with two wins and one Texas State loss.
