NEW ORLEANS, La. – The 2015 Sun Belt Conference Men's Tennis Championship bracket has been finalized with the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns entering the event as the No. 5 seed with action set to begin from the City Park Tennis Center this Friday.
The Cajuns, who enter the weekend as the tournament's defending champion, will kick off the event against No. 4 Georgia Southern at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. They are one of two matches to kick off the tournament, along with No. 3 South Alabama taking on No. 6 Appalachian State also at 3:00 p.m.
A win would pit the Cajuns against top-seeded Troy on Saturday at 3:00 p.m., while No. 2 UT Arlington awaits the winner of the South Alabama/Appalachian State match in the second semifinal.
The SBC Tournament championship match is set for Sunday, April 19 at 2:00 p.m.
Louisiana will be getting its second look at Georgia Southern in a two-week span after the Eagles pulled off a 4-3 upset in Lafayette on April 3, a win that propelled them to the No. 4 seed.
The Cajuns are 1-1 this season against the tournament field, holding a win over South Alabama while its match with UT Arlington in the regular season finale was called due to weather with the teams tied at 3-3 at the Cajuns leading in the final singles match remaining.
Damian Farinola and Will Huyton lead a balanced singles roster with 11 wins each, while four other players enter the weekend with at least six singles victories. In doubles play, Coleman Wahlborg and Jarred Wynan lead the way with 10 doubles victories while Farinola and partner Edgar Lopez have won four of their last five decisions, including a win over No. 24 Soares and Dojas of Texas Tech in late March.
