LAFAYETTE, La. - The No. 73 Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis team will face another tough test this week when it heads to Waco to take on No. 6 Baylor at the Hurd Tennis Center at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
The Ragin' Cajuns stand at 2-4 on the season with three of their four defeats coming to nationally-ranked opponents, including No. 1 USC last weekend in Los Angeles. Meanwhile, the Bears enter at 2-1 after knocking off No. 61 Tulane and No. 40 Drake last week at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend. They dropped a 4-3 decision to No. 11 Illinois in the season opener on January 21.
The match was originally scheduled to be played indoors at the Hawkins Tennis Center, but due to a clear forecast for Thursday has allowed the match to be moved outdoors.
The Bears lead the all-time series with the Cajuns, 11-5, including a 10-0 record under current head coach Matt Knoll and have picked up a win each of the past five seasons.
Freshman Vlad Kramarov currently leads UL in singles play with a team-high three victories, while Jake Wynan and Damian Farinola each have two apiece with both of Wynan's coming at No. 1 play. Farinola has won each of his last two singles matches.
UL has used nine doubles tandems through its first six matches with the duo of Farinola and Edgar Lopez teaming up for the first time last weekend in Los Angeles. That duo finished last year with a team-best 15-6 record.
The Cajuns will next return to Lafayette for a pair of home matches on Feb. 6 when it hosts Georgia State and Xavier (La.) at Cajun Courts.
