LAFAYETTE, La. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball team opened spring practice on Thursday afternoon in preparation for the 2015 season as the 36-player squad worked out in the Leon Moncla Indoor Practice Facility.

The Cajuns will practice Monday through Friday each week leading up to the Feb. 13 season opener at UTSA in San Antonio, Texas. Practices start around 2 p.m. each day at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field and are open to the public. Intrasquad dates and times will be announced weekly on twitter @CajunsBaseball.

"It's exciting for us to get back out there because we feel we are a lot further than we were in August," head coach Tony Robichaux said. "We threw a lot at them in fall practice, and when you throw a lot at someone when you transition from the high school game you have a backup period. What's nice about the spring is that you can really move because you have already laid the ground work in the fall."

Louisiana returns 12 letterwinners from the 2014 squad, which set a school record with 58 victories. Junior Blake Trahan highlights the returning starters as he has already been named a second team All-American by two publications.

"The big thing we have to do is be smart with the weather and work hard but also work smart," Robichaux added. "It's a long season, and an injury in the next 29 days could cost us. We have a long way to go to get where we want to be, but I feel like we are on the right track."

Season tickets are still available for the 2015 season. Fans can order tickets by visiting RaginCajuns.com or by calling (337) 265-2100.
