LAFAYETTE, La. – The Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis team is set to host in-state rival Louisiana Tech in a dual match at noon at Cajun Courts. Admission to the contest is free.

"We are excited to host Louisiana Tech and coach Chad Camper," head coach Greg Harkins said. "Camper came in this spring and is guiding the squad to one of the best seasons in team history.   They have asserted themselves as one of the top teams in conference USA.

"We are headed into the back side of the season, and this is the kind of competition that we expect to see at the Sunbelt Championships in April."

Louisiana (5-10) has lost its last three matches coming off of a 6-1 defeat at McNeese State on Wednesday. The Cajuns are 3-4 at Cajun Courts this season.

Junior Nelo Phiri has five wins playing at the No.1 position, while the duo of Phiri and Nicole Breaux have a 9-3 record in doubles this season playing on line one.

"Our No. 1 doubles team of Breaux and Phiri have posted some impressive results this season," Harkins added. "We are looking forward to see how they handle another high level opponent. Over the last few weeks we have seen improvement in singles play from Melissa Burckhartt and Julie Cremers, which is helping to stabilize the line up.

"The team is working on determination and mental toughness and our objective remains the same to focus on our process. If we are disciplined and consistent, the desired outcome will result. It's going to be a tough fight from start to finish."

The Bulldogs (11-2) had an 11-match win streak snapped earlier this week falling 4-0 to No. 70 TCU on the road. Louisiana Tech is led by Jazmin Britos with an 11-1 record in singles competition. The Bulldogs as a team have a .753 winning percentage in singles.

After the match with the Bulldogs, the Ragin' Cajuns are set to host Alcorn State on Tuesday in a dual match with the men's team at Cajun Courts starting at 3 p.m.
