Cajuns Baseball Puts Win Streak Up Against No.21 Alabama

LAFAYETTE, La. - M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field will host its first ever series against a Southeastern Conference opponent as the tenth ranked Louisiana baseball team carry an eight-game win streak into a three-game series against No. 21 Alabama starting on Friday at 6 p.m. The series opens a seven-game homestand for the Cajuns.

First pitch for Saturday is set for 2 p.m. at the Tigue, while the series finale will start at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Fans can catch the Saturday contest live on myKLAF-TV and on ESPN3.com. Don Allen will make the call with Kevin Cantrelle providing color.

The Cajuns are two wins away from reaching 800 victories at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field. Currently the all-time record in the facility stands at 798-312-2. Louisiana is 406-157-1 all time at the "Tigue" under head coach Tony Robichaux.

Louisiana (8-1) comes into the contest having knocked off top-ranked LSU 4-1 on the road in a rain-shortened contest earlier in the week to keep its win streak alive. Ryan Wilson and Caleb Adams each lead the squad hitting .368 through nine games. Wilson is tied for the team lead in RBI with Jace Conrad at seven.

Junior Austin Robichaux will make the start for the Cajuns on Friday coming into the contest with a 1-1 record and a 2.25 ERA. Carson Baranik is slated to take the mound on Saturday, while Sunday's starter has yet to be determined. Baranik is 1-0 on the year with a 1.10 era and a team-best 13 strikeouts in 16.1 innings.

Alabama (4-3) is coming off of a tough 2-1 loss at Southern Miss a day ago. The Crimson Tide boast one of the strongest pitching staffs in the SEC led by their Friday night starter Spencer Turnbull, who has thrown just eight innings his two starts, allowing one run on four hits with 10 strikeouts with a 1.12 ERA.

Offensively, Mikey White leads the group with a .345 average. White is tied with teammate Ben Moore for the team lead with four RBI.
