LAFAYETTE, La. – The Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis team will look to remain unbeaten at home on Tuesday at 3 p.m. when Louisiana hosts Texas A&M - Corpus Christi at Cajun Courts.
The Cajuns (6-2) are 3-0 at home this season with wins over Lamar, Jackson State and Xavier (La.). Admission to the match is free and the first 100 people in attendance will receive free jambalaya courtesy of Jonathon Landreth with Lafayette Physical Rehabilitation Hospital.
Sophomore Jake Wynan has a team-best 5-2 record in singles play, while the doubles team of Wynan and Rick de Groot are 4-2 on the season.
"This is a bonafide top 60 nationally ranked team that will be a great challenge for our guys at home," head coach Mark Jeffrey said. "This is what you play for, to put yourself in these types of situations and really enjoy the competition and the battle."
The Islanders (8-3) are riding a seven-match win streak into the contest having recently defeated Prairie View A&M 5-0 and Oral Roberts 7-0. A&M – Corpus Christi is led by Peter Nagy with a 8-1 singles record and a 4-2 mark in doubles.
"I'm looking for our guys to bring their progress from the practice court to the match Tuesday and treat every point as an opportunity to get better and be hungry in that quest," Jeffrey mentioned. "We are emphasizing process, process, process. Lets see if we can do that tomorrow."
After the match with the Islanders, the Cajuns are slated to head to Houston, Texas on Sunday to face Rice at 11 a.m. For more info on Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis follow the squad on twitter @CajunMensTennis.
