LAFAYETTE, La.  – Riding a three-match win streak, the fourth seeded Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis team will face fifth seed Florida Atlantic in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Championships at Cajun Courts on Thursday at 2 p.m., the conference office announced on Tuesday.

“We will be ready on Thursday and looking forward to our first contest of the Sun Belt Tournament against FAU,” head coach Mark Jeffrey said. “We are glad to be playing our conference tournament at home, and hope to have some big crowds this week. I know Cajun nation will be out in full force to support the Ragin' Cajuns teams. This is our first Sun Belt Championship in Lafayette, so we have to make the most of it.”

The winner of the contest will then go on to face top-seeded Middle Tennessee in the semifinals on Friday at 2 p.m.

Louisiana (14-11) needs just one win to reach 15-plus wins for the second consecutive season and third time under head coach Mark Jeffrey. The Cajuns have only dropped one point in their last three contests winning by a combined score of 20-1.

Junior Rick de Groot leads a UL lineup that features five players with double-digit wins this spring. The Pekala, Holland native has a team-best win total of 14, while sophomore Damian Farinola is on a three-match win streak and has a strong 13-4 record.

The Cajuns are 2-2 all time against the Owls (8-13) with the last meeting coming in 2009 with a 4-1 loss to FAU in the SBC Championships.

Florida Atlantic comes into the match having gone 3-2 in its last five outings including consecutive wins over Bethune-Cookman and DePaul. The Owls are led by Jose Fantova with a 10-11 mark in singles play.

Admission to the Sun Belt Championships is free. Fans who can't make it out to Cajun Courts can follow every match live on RaginCajuns.com. For updates and info on men's tennis follow the squad on twitter @CajunMensTennis.
