Cajuns To Host Texas State In Sun Belt Matinee

LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns volleyball team begins its final week of the regular-season with a three-match homestand beginning Sunday when it plays host to Texas State in a Sun Belt Conference match at Earl K. Long Gym.
First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
Louisiana (18-11, 8-7 Sun Belt), which has clinched its second winning season in four years, looks to improve its seeding for the upcoming Sun Belt Conference Tournament, which is scheduled for Nov. 21-23 in Troy, Ala. The Cajuns will open their final homestand against Texas State (19-11, 9-6 Sun Belt) before facing UT Arlington (Nov. 15) and UALR (Nov. 17).
The Cajuns had a three-match win streak snapped on Friday in a straight-set loss at league leader WKU on Friday. Kelly Wiesmann led Louisiana with 11 kills while Andrea Hole had 25 assists and Caitlyn Auxilien 10 digs.
Lavinia Tataran leads Louisiana in kills per set with 2.78 and is followed by Tonice White (2.51), Sara Mossakowski (2.41) and Kaylee Nemeth (2.22). Hole leads the Cajuns with 10.48 assists per set while Auxilien is averaging a team-high 4.29 digs per set.
Texas State, in its first season in the Sun Belt, opened its season-ending four-match roadtrip with a straight-set victory at ULM on Friday. Amari Deardorff led the Bobcats with nine kills with three players – Shelby Vas Matt, Ashlee Hilbun and Alexandra Simms – recording seven each.
The Bobcats opened Sun Belt Conference play with a straight-set victory over Louisiana on Sept. 27. Deardorff posted 13 kills to lead Texas State in the win with Vas Matt adding 11.
