Cajuns Swept By Texas State In Sun Belt Volleyball

Louisiana to close out regular season against UTA, UALR
LAFAYETTE – Tonice White recorded a team-high nine kills to lead the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns volleyball team, but 29 unforced errors at the net and an efficient Texas State attack was too much in a 25-20, 25-20, 25-20 setback to the Bobcats in a Sun Belt Conference match on Sunday at Earl K. Long Gym.
Shelby Vas Matt posted a match-high 10 kills and added eight digs as Texas State (20-11, 10-6 Sun Belt) finished with a .268 hitting average on offense while holding Louisiana (18-12, 8-8 Sun Belt) to a .175 clip. Amari Deardorff and Alexandra Simms had nine kills each for the Bobcats while Ashlee Hilbun had five.
Caylin Mahoney led Texas State with 29 assists with Vas Matt and Simms each recording a pair of service aces. Ali Hubicsak and Sierra Smith led the Bobcats with 11 digs apiece and Hilbun posted a team-high three blocks.
Andrea Hole had 27 assists, eight kills and seven digs for the Ragin' Cajuns, who dropped their second straight match. Lavina Tataran and Kelly Wiesmann had five kills each for Louisiana with Taylor Meade recorded a team-high 11 digs and Caitlyn Auxilien 10.
Chanelle Gardner led Louisiana with three blocks with Kaylee Nemeth, White and Sara Mossakowski each recording two.
Louisiana will wrap up the regular-season with a pair of Sun Belt Conference matches beginning Friday. The Ragin' Cajuns will host UT Arlington on Friday at 7 p.m. before concluding the regular-season on Sunday (Nov. 17) against UALR in a noon contest.
