Cajuns Drop Hard Fought Decision to Colonels, 4-3

Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis team dropped a hard fought 4-3 decision to Nicholls State on Wednesday afternoon at Cajun Courts.

“We lost a hard fought battle to Nicholls State today,” head coach Greg Harkins said. “We have to learn how to push through in tight match like our opponent did. Our team is going through a tough stretch right now. We just need to keep working hard, and use these experiences to help us get to where we need to be at the end of the season.”

The Colonels picked up the doubles point after wins at No.1 and No.2 doubles. Milou Israel and Tara Vasovic had a good showing at No.3 doubles defeating Marie Aubert and Marina Ljoshevska 8-3.

The Cajuns (3-8) pulled ahead 2-1 after wins by Sophie van den Aarssen and Erin Wilbert, but NSU's Parija Maloo evened the contest at 2-all with her win at No.1 singles.

Nicholls State clinched the match with wins at No.4 and No.5 singles. Hannah Appleyard closed out the contest with a win at No.6 singles, 6-3, 6-2.

UL returns to action on Friday at 2 p.m. when they face South Alabama in Mobile, Ala.
