SHREVEPORT, La. – After enjoying a two week break, the 60th ranked Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis team got back to work with a 9-0 sweep of Centenary in Shreveport on Saturday to improve to 12-6 on the season.
"I think our guys came out really focused, and I was pleased with the whole team effort,” head coach Mark Jeffrey said. “I like what coach Killen is doing at Centenary, and it is a good relationship for our teams to keep playing in the future.”
The Cajuns picked up three points in doubles play as the teams played a division III format match.
All six UL players won in straight sets in singles play including freshman Jarred Wynan who did not drop a game in his match at No.5 singles to increase his win streak to a team-best eight matches.
Ted Nilsson also kept his six-game win streak alive defeating Michael Reeks 6-3, 6-1 at No.4.
“It's important to us to help other Louisiana schools like Centenary get better,” Jeffrey said. “This was a good match coming off of a long break. Really good focused team effort I was really proud of our guys today."
Louisiana closes out the home season on Saturday at 1 p.m. when they host Lamar at Cajun Courts for senior day.
