Women’s Tennis Falls to Austin Peay, 4-3

The Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis team dropped yet another 4-3 decision falling to Austin Peay on Saturday afternoon in a dual match in Mobile, Ala.

“Today we truly became a team,” head coach Greg Harkins said. “I am extremely proud of the girls for the effort they showed. We had contributions from everyone on the team. You never want to lose 4-3, and we have had three 4-3 decisions in a row. The good thing is that the team has turned this into a positive experience. We know we are right on the cusp of turning the corner and getting to where we need to be.”

Despite a win by Sophie van den Aarssen and Sandra Ahlqvist at No.3 doubles, the Lady Govs would take an early advantage claiming the doubles point with wins at No.1 and No.2.

In singles competition, the Cajuns recorded straight set wins by van den Aarssen at No.3, Tara Vasovic at No.4 and Ahlqvist at No.5.

APSU's Jovana Karak clinched the match for the Lady Govs topping freshman Haley Acuna at No.6, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4.

UL is back in action on Thursday, March 22 when they head to in-state rival La. Monroe for a 2 p.m. dual match.
