Soccer Continues Schedule at home

The Louisiana Soccer Team returns to action this weekend as they are scheduled to host matches on Friday and Sunday against Southeastern Louisiana and Southern Miss.
Friday's contest with Southeastern Louisiana is set to kickoff at 7:00 p.m., while Sunday's match against Southern Miss is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m.
Louisiana enters the weekend off a 1-1-0 showing in their opening weekend. The squad took a 1-0 win over Northwestern State before falling 3-0 to LSU. Friday night's game winner came in overtime as junior Melissa Minton hooked a corner kick to the nearside post causing the ball to deflect off the goalkeeper before a NSU player knocked the ball into the net for the Cajuns' victory.
The UL defensive unit was solid over the weekend, opening the season with 161 consecutive minutes of shutout play before LSU scored in the second half of Sunday's game. Goalkeeper Amanda Moorefield played held her line well for the Cajuns, making 11 combined saves in the two games.
Louisiana holds a 2-4-1 all-time record when facing Southeastern Louisiana. Last season, the squad tallied its first ever shutout against the program, blanking the Lions 2-0 in Hammond. Moorefield was solid in net for the team, saving three shots en route to her fourth clean sheet of the season. Cayla Chatman started the team off on the right foot, scoring the game-winning goal in the fifth minute.
SLU enters Friday night with a 2-0 mark on the season, upon taking victories over Alcorn State and Alabama State last weekend.
Sunday's contest with Southern Miss will feature the fifth meeting in the series between the two schools. The Golden Eagles hold a slight 2-1-1 advantage. The last time these schools met, UL defeated Southern Miss 1-0 in the 2009 meeting in Hattiesburg.
Southern Miss enters the weekend at 0-1-1 after losing to Ole Miss and drawing with Louisiana Tech. The team will play host to Jacksonville State on Friday before travelling to Lafayette for Sunday's contest.
