The University of Louisiana soccer team opens their 2011 campaign with a pair of home games this weekend at Ragin' Cajuns Soccer/Track Facility.

The squad kicks off the season on Friday at 7:00 p.m. with a clash against Northwestern State, to be followed with a 1:00 p.m. contest versus in-state rival LSU on Sunday.

Seventh-year head coach Scot Wieland sat down with RaginCajuns.com Chelsea Balestra to discuss the upcoming 2011 season. Click here to view.

Friday's fixture with NSU will be the 11th matchup between the two programs with the Lady Demons holding a 7-3 all-time series advantage. The match is expected to be a tightly contested affair as the past three meetings have been settled by a single goal. The 2009 and 2010 games both were decided in overtime.

Sunday's interstate derby with LSU is the ninth fixture in the all-time series. In 2010, the Cajuns battled the Tigers in a close 1-0 loss. UL fought hard throughout outshooting LSU on the day.

Leading the Cajuns this season will be Senior Megan Riley and Juniors Gayla Foster and Amanda Moorefield. The trio were named 2011 squad captains by their teammates.

Post-game statistics and coverage of both matches will be available on RaginCajuns.com.
