Joey Satriano ended Southern's rally by pitching a scoreless frame in the eighth inning then Louisiana plated six runs in the ninth inning to leave no doubt of the outcome in a 13-5 Cajuns victory Wednesday evening at Lee-Hines Field in Baton Rouge.

With the win the Ragin' Cajuns (21-17) snapped a three-game losing streak and completed the season sweep of the Jaguars (21-15).

UL was ahead comfortably after 4 ½ innings as seven runs had crossed home plate and starting pitcher Ryland Parker was tossing a one-hit shutout.

Starting in the fifth inning the hosts came charging back with five unanswered runs by the time the end of the seventh inning rolled around.

SU reliever Zephan Rochelle wrapped up his third consecutive inning of scoreless relief in the top of the eighth inning. With Rochelle putting up zeros the Cajuns needed to halt the Jaguars rally and turned to Satriano in the bottom of the eighth inning

Satriano sat the Jaguars down in order inducing a grounder from Ozzie Lamis and notching strikeouts of Vince Coleman and Frazier Hall to post the zero.

Satriano's shutdown performance proved to be a momentum shifter as the Cajuns stepped to the plate in the ninth inning and tallied six runs on six hits to create plenty of cushion heading into the Jaguars final at bat.

Tuesday's game marked the end of the Cajuns stretch of 10 out of 11 games on the road which began April 5 at Rice. UL ended the stretch with a 5-6 mark and now settles in for a stretch of 11 out of 14 at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field beginning with a three-game Sun Belt series against arch rival South Alabama on Friday.

Chris Sinclair posted his first four-hit game in a Cajuns uniform finishing 4-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI. Alex Fuselier and Jordan Bourque posted three-hits(both 3-for-5) and Greg Fontenot and Mike Petello each tallied two hits.

The Cajuns registered their 15th game with double digit hits and wound up with a season-high 19.

Ryland Parker made his first start of the season for Louisiana and picked up the win tossing 5 1/3 innings allowing just two runs off of four hits.

The Cajuns wasted no time jumping ahead of the Jaguars scoring three runs in the first inning.

Fontenot singled with one out then Jordan Poirrier followed with a walk and quickly two runners were aboard. Both came around to score on a two-out double by Lance Marvel to left center. Daniel Nichols followed up with a single to left field to bring home Marvel.

Parker issued two walks and hit a batter to begin the Jaguars half of the first inning loading the bases with no outs. He posted back-to-back strikeouts, fanning Wilmy Marrero and Bryan Rowry, and escaped unscathed when David Nolting filed out to right field.

Parker would hold the Jaguars to one run and two hits over the next four innings and the Cajuns extended their lead with a pair of two-run innings.

A little two-out magic in the fourth inning allowed UL to light up the scoreboard again. Fuselier's first hit of the night went right back up the middle and plated Sinclair (leadoff single, advanced on sacrifice bunt) for a 4-0 lead. After Fuselier moved up on a balk, Fontenot dropped a single into left center to score Fuselier.

Petello opened the fifth inning with a solo home run increasing the Cajuns' lead to 6-0. After a one-out walk to Nichols the Jaguars pulled Preyer in favor of Rochelle.

Nichols stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error by Nolting then scored after Sinclair drove a single up the middle of the infield. Sinclair's RBI single stretched the Cajuns lead to 7-0.

Southern plated single runs off of Parker in the fifth and sixth inning then produced three runs off four hits in the seventh inning to slice the Cajuns lead to 7-5.

Satriano entered in the eighth inning and ended a string of three straight innings in which the Jaguars scored. He also swung the momentum back to the Cajuns as the game moved to the ninth inning.
