After the most successful regular season in school history, and with the spring season in the rearview mirror, the Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns soccer program is now gearing up for its 5th Annual Summer Soccer Camps.
Taking a slightly difference approach than in past years, the soccer program will host two day camps and one overnight, residential camp. The days will be held on May 30-June 2 and July 18-21 while the residential camp will be held July 21-24.
All three camps are open to boys and girls. The day camps are open to children ages 4-11 while the residential camp is open to ages 11-18.
Each day camp is held from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday-Wednesday and 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. The overnight camp begins at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday and runs through 12:00 p.m. on Sunday.
Each year the camps provide a new and fun approach to teaching the game of soccer and the skills that come with it.
"We look forward to our summer camps every year, and considering that they have grown every year in attendance, this summer should be awesome!" said head coach Scot Wieland. "This past season our game attendance was up, our free clinic numbers were up and we expect the same for these camps. I believe that we have created a fun learning atmosphere for local and regional soccer players that the kids look forward to."
The Ragin' Cajuns enter this year's summer camps after posting the first 10-win season in school history in 2010. The Cajuns also set a school record for shutouts and tied a school record for goals allowed. In addition, the Cajuns earned the NSCAA National Academic Award.
