UL to Face Lady Jags in SBC Tourney

Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball team will face South Alabama for the third time in four seasons in the first round of the Sun Belt Conference Championships as released by the league office on Sunday.
The matchup is scheduled for Saturday, March 5 with a 2:30 p.m. tip-off. The game will be played at the Convention Center Court inside the Summit Arena in Hot Springs, Ark.
The Ragin' Cajuns (11-18, 4-12) are the Sun Belt West No. 5 seed and will face the Sun Belt East No. 4 seed South Alabama for the second consecutive season.
Last year, the Lady Jags edged UL, 82-76, to advance to the SBC quarterfinals. In 2008, the Lady Jags defeated the Cajuns 49-40 in Mobile, Ala.
Earlier this season, USA picked up an 82-66 victory over UL in Mobile on Jan. 30. Junior Mercedes Johnson inked a game-high 21 points in the loss.
Louisiana has reached the double-digit win plateau for the first time since the 2006-2007 season. On the season, the Cajuns are averaging 63.3 points per game, while shooting 40.2 percent (693x1722) from the field.
The winner of the first round game will face No.1 West Seed UALR in the quarterfinals.
