Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns soccer team faces its first full weekend on the road as they travel to Northwestern State on Friday and Stephen F. Austin on Sunday.
This weekend marks the first of the 2010 season in which the Cajuns haven't played at least one match at home.
UL (3-1-0) is coming off of a week in which they fell to Houston at home, 2-0, on Friday and defeated Lamar at home on Sunday, 2-1.
The Cajuns are led in scoring by senior captain Kelli Jestes who has posted two goals thus far this season. The Fort Collins, Colo. Native has now scored 18 career goals, the most ever by a Cajun, and one ahead of teammate Courtney Hofland who has 17 career scores.
Despite not being in the goal column yet this season, Hofland leads the Cajuns with two assists, bringing her career assist total to nine, one shy of the school record. Also, Hofland has now registered 43 career points, the most in UL history, one ahead of Jestes 42.
In addition to Jestes two scores, five different Cajuns have scored once this season.
The Cajuns defense is led in the back by sophomore goalie Amanda Moorfield, who has allowed just three goals in 315 minutes while facing 33 shots.
Northwestern State (1-3-0) enters Friday's match after a 4-0 win over Southern last Sunday at home. The Demons also hosted Texas Tech and fell by the same score, 4-0. NSU has had five different players score one goal.
The Cajuns trail the series with the Demons 6-3, including a 2-1 defeat the last time the two sides played in Natchitoches in 2008.
Stephen F. Austin (2-2-0) is coming off of a very eventful weekend. The Ladyjacks defeated Arkansas on Friday at home, 2-1, and fell to Oklahoma on the road, 2-1. SFA's offense is paced by Kylie Louw who has posted three goals in addition to an assist. The sophomore scored both of the Ladyjacks goals in their win over Arkansas.
The Cajuns will make their first ever trip to Nacogdoches, Texas as UL and SFA have met only one previous time, with the Cajuns losing 3-1 last season in Lafayette.
The Cajuns and NSU kick off at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Live stats will be available for that match up at the above link. Live video streaming is also available for the match up between the Cajuns and Demons. UL and the Ladyjacks kick off at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday with live stats also available at the above link but there will be no video.
