XC Opens Season with Ragin' Cajuns Invite

Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns men's and women's cross country teams begin their 2010 season on Friday, Sept. 17 hosting the Ragin' Cajuns Invitational at UL Research Park.

UL Research Park is situated directly behind the Hilton Garden Inn on West Congress Street across from the Cajundome.

The event begins at 6 p.m., with the men running a 6K race. The women will follow at approximately 6:30 p.m., in a 4K race.

Participating teams include Louisiana, La.-Monroe, Southern and Xavier (New Orleans).

The Ragin' Cajuns men and women look to defend their 2009 titles, claiming both the team and individual titles on the men's and women's side.

Friday's event marks the debut of Valeriu Tomescu, the former Romanian National team head coach who took over the Cajuns cross country program in August.
