UL's Johnson Named Preseason All-Sun Belt

The accolades were voted on by the Sun Belt's 12 head coaches and released in conjunction with the conference's media day video web conference.
Johnson becomes the first UL women's basketball player to be named Preseason All-Sun Belt since Onna Charles earned second team honors during the 2007-08 season.
The Houston native led the Cajuns in scoring last season with 14.6 points per game, while averaging a team-best 6.0 rebounds, 3.4 free throws made and 1.3 steals per game.
Johnson posted four double-doubles during her sophomore campaign and reached double-digit scoring in 23 contests. The power forward also led UL with 55 steals and blocked 12 shots on the year.
Johnson earned Sun Belt Player of the Week honors on Feb. 15, 2010 after tallying a career-high 39 points at Florida Atlantic.
Head coach Errol Rogers addressed the media during his portion of the video web conference and spoke about his team's upcoming 2010-11 campaign and expectations for the season.
Rogers enters his fourth season at the helm of the women's basketball program. The Cajuns return three starters from last year: Johnson, Jasmine Barnes and Nicole Morris.
The Ragin' Cajuns officially began practice on Wednesday, Oct. 6. UL will open the season with LSU-Shreveport on Monday Nov. 15 at the Cajundome as part of a doubleheader with the UL men's basketball team. Louisiana's first game of the season at Earl K. Long Gym is set for Saturday, Nov. 20 when they host Conference USA foe UAB for a 1:00 p.m. tip-off.
