Play on the final day of the UL Invitational was canceled due to rain.

Saturday, Sept. 12

The weather cooperated just long enough at the UL Invitational men's tennis tournament to get in the four singles draws.

There will no longer be a consolation draw or a doubles draw due to rain and time restraints. Play will resume Sunday at 8 a.m.

UL coach Mark Jeffery said he was most impressed by Yanick Mandl's 8-0 win as well as Tomasz Kryszkowski's 8-3 win. 

The Cajuns went 7-2 on Saturday with only two Cajuns losing, those two being Piotr Olechowski and Alexander Rupertsson

Piotr Banas will lead things off the Cajuns on Sunday as he plays the winner of Giles Osborn and Stepan Siska after their match at 8 a.m. Also in Draw A will be Javier Pulgar who will take on V. Kamenini of UNO at 8 a.m. on Sunday.

In Draw B, Mandle will take on the winner of Alex Emery of UAB and D. Snyder of Lamar. Krzyszkowski will face T. Petrich, also of UAB.

In Draw C Collin Murray may face his teammate Robert Voss on Sunday as Voss faces Gui Rebelo at 8 a.m. for the right to play Murray.

Friday, Sept. 11
Due to Rain in the Lafayette area, singles play was canceled on Friday with doubles action possible for Friday night.

UL Men's coach Mark Jeffery said teams will attempt to play doubles matches late Friday night with results to be posted on Saturday. Jeffery did not have a set schedule yet for Saturdays action as more rain is in the forecast.

The Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis team kicks off the fall portion of their 2009-10 season by hosting the UL Invitational at Ragin' Cajun Courts from Friday-Sunday, Sept. 11-13.

Participating teams include South Carolina Upstate, Southern Miss, Nicholls State, UNO, Lamar, Alcorn State, Oachita Baptist, Xavier of New Orleans and Southern Illinois.

In Draw A Piotr Banas leads things off for UL as the No. 1 seed in that bracket. He will face Anton Krutkin of Alcorn State at 8:30 a.m. Javier Pulgar will also see action for the Cajuns as the No. 3 seed as he faces Richard Filkuka of Lamar at 8:30 a.m.

Tomasz Krzyszkowski will kick things off for the Cajuns at 8:30 a.m. on Friday with a match against Lamar's Marton Horvath in Draw B.

In Draw C Carlin Murray begins his season with a match against H. Abbas of Xavier at 10 a.m. The second player for the Cajuns will be Piotr Olechowski who will take on Y.S. Hawkins of Alcorn State at 10 a.m. The third Cajun in Draw C will be Robert Voss who will take on J. Thorpe of Lamar.

Draw D will see Brent Fugit take on D. Gonsalvez of Alcorn State, while Alexander Rupertsson will face Cameron Knowles of Xavier at 10 a.m.

In doubles action the Cajuns have the No. 4 seed in Yanick Mandl and Banas. They will face off against Giles Osborn and Mikhail Vaval of Xavier in Draw A. The other Cajuns team in Draw A is Olechowski and Javier Pulgar who will take on Radu Ionescu and Phenyo Matong of Nicholls State.

In Draw B Rupertsson and Voss will take on Krutkini and Alexander Lidzar of Alcorn State at 4:30 p.m. The No. 2 seed for UL will be Carlin Murray and Kryszkowski who will get a bye into the second round.
