? ALL-TIME SERIES (Louisiana leads 26-22)
The Cajuns-Blue Raiders series was revived when Middle Tennessee joined the Sun Belt Conference in 2001. Series began in March 1975 and the teams met sporadically through the 1983 season. No meetings were held 1984-2000. Louisiana leads the series 19-16 since MT joined the SBC. The Cajuns hold an 18-9 advantage in regular season Sun Belt play. UL posted a three-game sweep at “Tigue” Moore Field earlier this season and have now won five of the last six meetings. The Ragin' Cajuns have seven SBC series victories over the Blue Raiders. UL's current five-game winning streak is the longest in series history. The programs have met eight times in the SBC Tournament with MT winning seven times.
? EARLIER THIS SEASON VERSUS MT
Louisiana swept the league-leading Blue Raiders the weekend of April 3-5 at “Tigue” Moore Field. On Friday, Kyle Bostick keyed a four-run seventh inning with a bases-loaded, three-RBI double off the right field wall, putting the Cajuns back on top after going down 2-0 in the fourth. Zach Osborne, throwing in relief, shut down MT to secure the 5-2 victory. In the middle game of the series, Blake Haagen and Justin Robichaux combined to pitch 6 2/3 innings of two-hit, shutout baseball as UL rallied for a 10-5 victory. The Cajuns fell behind 5-4, after the Blue Raiders exploded for all of their runs in the third inning. Greg Fontenot sparked the Cajuns' offense with a two-run single up the middle in the fifth inning to take the lead. The offense was in high gear again on Sunday, as the Cajuns exploded for 14 runs to complete the sweep. A nine-spot in the fifth rallied UL from a 6-2 deficit. Osborne shut down MT again, holding the Blue Raiders to only one hit in the final 3 2/3 innings.
