Idaho Takes Down Louisiana, 90-66

WACO, Texas -The Idaho Vandals hit nine three-pointers, seven of which came in the second half, to take down Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball team, 90-66, at the World Vision Classic on Sunday. Idaho shot over 37 percent (9-24) from behind the arc while UL hit just 17 percent (4-23) of their shots.
The Cajuns now sit at 1-4 on the year, while the Vandals (1-5) garnered their first win of the year.
The first half was closely contested with neither team able to establish a definite lead. The largest lead for either team was a four-point advantage by the Vandals at the 8:44 mark. The score was tied on three occasions and the lead changed six times by the 7:39 mark. Idaho was able to put together a 12-4 run to extend its lead to eight points at 26-18 with 5:49 left in the half.
The two teams would trade baskets over the remaining minutes, but Idaho would hold a 35-28 lead at the half.
The Vandals opened the second half with two separate runs of 12-4 and 11-4 to eventually grab a 58-39 lead with 11:51 remaining.
Later in the half, the Cajuns were able to mount a 20-8 run of their own but still trailed 77-60 with 4:20 left.
Alexis Green was UL's leading scorer and rebounder with 18 points and 10 boards. With the double-double, Green eclipsed the 500-point mark in her career at UL.
Idaho had four players in double figures with Shaena Kuehu netting 20 points.
The Cajuns will to snap their four-game skid on Tuesday, Dec. 2 in Lake Charles, La., taking on McNeese State. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. CT.
