Cajuns Set Final Dates, Times For Football, Soccer

LAFAYETTE - Scheduled start times for UL Lafayette's football and women's soccer teams for the 2002 seasons were announced Tuesday.

The Cajuns start the 2002 football season against Texas A&M on Aug. 31 at 6 p.m. in College Station, Texas. The season's first home game will follow when the Minnesota Golden Gophers travel to face UL in the second annual Herbert Heymann Football Classic on Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. at Cajun Field.

UL will play its first two home games - the Minnesota game and a Sept. 21 contest against Alabama-Birmingham - at 7 p.m. The remaining three home games, all Sun Belt Conference matchups, are scheduled for 4 p.m.

UL's women's soccer team opens with four straight road games before making history on Friday, Sept. 13. The Cajuns will host Northwestern State at 7 p.m. at Cajun Field, marking the first time that facility has hosted soccer competition. The Cajuns played their first two seasons at Carencro's Moore Park.
