LAFAYETTE ? Under sunny skies and 70-degree temperatures, the Red team took Fall World Series Game 4 by a score of 4-2, forcing Game 5 on Monday to determine the winner of the series.

Black starting pitcher Justin Robichaux gave his team a great start, going 5.2 innings with five strikeouts, allowing no runs on one hit. Red's Taylor Hubbell picked up the win, with a 6.2 inning outing, giving up two runs on two hits, a strikeout, and no walks. Zach Osborne earned the save, entering the game in the seventh with a lead of two runs, and allowing two hits and no runs while picking up a strikeout.

Black's Patrick Holloway took the loss, giving up three runs in the seventh on two hits and a strikeout.

Greg Fontenot leads the offensive marquee for the Red team, responsible for three of their four runs, including the game winner. He finished 2-4 with two hits and three RBIs. For Black, Kyle Olasin went 3-5 from the plate, driving in one run and crossing the dish once himself. Matt Goulas and Matt Hicks each had two hits in the game for Black, while one Black and three Red players each picked up a hit.

Justin Robichaux started on the mound for the Black team and struck out the side to open the game, fanning Red leadoff hitter Brian Bowman, left fielder Alex Fuselier, and catcher Chance Harst. The dominant performance from Robichaux would continue all the way until he left game on a pitch count in the sixth.

The Black team opened scoring in the third with a pair of doubles and a sacrifice fly. Third baseman Kyle Bostick pulled a line drive down the left field line before centerfielder Kyle Olasin put a double down the right field line for the RBI. Jordan Poirrier flied out to center but advanced Olasin to third, who came around to score on Goulas' sacrifice fly to right field. The inning ended when Dillon Guillory grounded out to Scott Hawkins at first.

Red turned the game around in the seventh inning with Holloway on the mound. Alex Fuselier made it to first on a pitch between his shoulder blades and became Red's first base runner since the second inning. He also became Red's first runner to cross the plate, advancing to second on a balk by Holloway and coming around to score on a single to left center by Harst. Scott Hawkins kept the rally going with a short dribbler towards first baseman Jon Masch. He fielded the ball but could not beat Hawkins to the bag.

Travis Whipple came up to attempt a no-out sacrifice bunt in order to put both runners in scoring position, but ended up reaching on a fielder's choice when Holloway's throw to third was late. With everyone safe, no outs, and the bases loaded, Holloway left in favor of freshman righty Ben Suit. Suit got one down quickly with Chad Keefer's foul fly out in front of the third base dugout, but gave up a two-RBI double to the right field wall off the bat of Fontenot. His two RBIs gave Red the 3-2 lead, both runs charged to Holloway. Alex Spikes grounded out to the shortstop for the second out and Brian Bowman struck out to end the frame.

Red added some insurance in the top of the ninth. Travis Whipple got all the way around to second on a fly ball in the infield when Kyle Bostick called off Suit but dropped the ball while trying to navigate the mound. Whipple advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt, and came home on an RBI double to left field by Greg Fontenot for the 4-2 advantage.

The World Series will conclude Monday at 6:30 p.m. when Red and Black take to the grass at M.L. “Tigue” Moore Field once more before the winter offseason begins.
