LAFAYETTE-Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball team signed sophomore transfer Bronson Rodgers to run the point for UL during the 2007-08 season.  Rodgers comes to the Cajuns from Itawamba Community College in Itawamba, Miss.

Rodgers is a 5-5 point guard who will look to compete immediately for a starting job left open by Jeanenne Colbert who exhausted her eligibility at the conclusion of the Cajuns' 2006-07 season.

The Itawamba, Miss. native will try to help the Ragin' Cajuns repeat as Sun Belt Conference Western Division champions and return to NCAA Tournament.

“It wasn't that hard of a decision,” Rodgers said of committing to UL.  “They have a bunch of players coming back and should be good again this year.”

Rodgers averaged 12.0 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 3.7 steals per game in her lone season for the Lady Indians.

“She is a very tough kid who attacks the rim,” head coach Errol Rogers stated.  “She goes from zero to a hundred just like that.  On top of that, Bronson shoots the ball well from the three-point line.

“I got to know her as we recruited her while I was at Mississippi State,” Rogers added.  “I knew she was a qualifier so we called her, and she was very interested in coming down here.  She is a great girl and we are happy to have her.”
