Florida International's Golden Panthers came to Lamson Park on Saturday with one thing in mind, a sweep of the 15th ranked Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns. After taking games one and two in Friday's doubleheader, FIU catcher Tabitha Embry made sure her team took game three also, as she pounded out three home runs and drove in five runs to lead the Golden Panthers to an 8-3 win.  The sweep was the first time the Cajuns had ever been swept in their eight years as members of the Sun Belt Conference.

FIU pitcher, Penny Eastman, who came on in relief of Golden Panther starter Kerri Houck in the third inning, was the winning pitcher and improves to 10-10 overall.  Eastman gave up three hits and one run in her five inning of work.  Florida International improves to 17-26 overall and 5-7 in Sun Belt Conference play.

Louisiana meanwhile, drops to 34-11 on the season and 7-4 in conference play.  Brittany
Cuevas took the loss for the Cajuns in the circle and falls to 21-7.  Shari Sigur came on to pitch the final 1 2/3 innings for UL.

The Cajuns wasted little time ending their 17 inning scoreless streak as they pushed across two runs in the bottom of the first inning.  Holly Tankersley singled up the middle with one out, Lacey Bertucci drew a base on balls for the 40th time this season, and Desi Chatman walked to load the bases.  Codi Runyan and Karli Hubbard RBI singles provided Louisiana with the early 2-0 lead.

FIU's Ashley Falk's RBI single in the top of the third cut the Cajun lead in half as UL led 2-1 going into the bottom half of the third.

The Golden Panthers added three more runs in the top of the fourth inning to take their first lead of the game at 4-2.  The big blow of the inning was a Tabitha Embry two run homer.  Amanda Cox, Deomni Murray, Desiree Fink and Monique White also had hits in the inning.

Louisiana cut the FIU lead to 4-3 in the bottom of the fifth inning on a Megan Godwin, pinch hit, solo homerun.  Godwin's home run was her third of the season.

The Golden Panthers extended their lead to 6-3 in their half of the sixth inning on a Embry solo shot to center field.  Embry's home run was her second of the game.  FIU added another run on three base on balls and an infield ground out.

FIU added two more runs in the top of the seventh on a Desiree Fink two out double, followed by Embry's third home run of the game to make the final score 8-3, as the Cajuns were able to put together a seventh inning rally in their half of the inning.

Louisiana will next be in action next Saturday, April, 14, as they travel to Mobile, Alabama, to face South Alabama in a three game Sun Belt Conference series.
