LAFAYETTE ? The 19th-ranked Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns softball team made it a sweep of No. 14 Georgia by taking a 7-2 victory here Saturday evening in the 21st Annual Louisiana Classics.

The Ragin' Cajuns (4-0) carried a 3-2 lead into the sixth inning before a Lacey Bertucci grand slam put the game out of reach sending UL to its second win over the Bulldogs (2-2) in the tournament. The Cajuns bested UGA 12-4 in six innings on Friday night.

Freshman Brittany Cuevas picked up her second win of the tournament tossing all seven innings and scattering six hits. Cuevas allowed only one hit that led to UGA runs when she surrendered a two-run home run to Kellie Middleton in the fifth inning.

Bertucci led all Cajuns with four RBI ? all of them coming on her first home run of the season in the sixth inning.

The Cajuns patience at the plate paid dividends for a fourth straight game. UL batters drew 10 walks to offset 11 strikeouts by UGA pitcher Kate Gaskill.

Megan Godwin drew a leadoff walk in the first inning and moved to third on two Gaskill wild pitches. After the second wild pitch, Codi Runyan walked and then attempted a steal. The Bulldogs had Runyan caught, but she retreated back to first base. The throw got away from Alison Horne allowing Godwin to cross home plate with the first run.

Cuevas worked around two UGA base hits in the bottom of the first inning. The inning ended when Lana Bowers threw out Megan McAllister attempting to steal second base.

The lead remained 1-0 through three complete as Cuevas and Gaskill kept runners off the basepath.

Runyan led off the fourth inning with a solo home run over the right field wall pushing the Cajuns lead to 2-0.

Desi Chatman singled just into right field just over the reach of UGA second baseman Chelsea Cantillo then Melissa Verde and Bowers walked to load the bases. A two-out walk issued to Godwin brought home the Cajuns third run of the game.

UL had an opportunity to extend its lead in the fifth getting runners on second and third with no outs. Back-to-back fielder's choice grounders led the two potential UL runs being wiped away on plays made at home plate by the Bulldogs' defense. When Bowers grounded out to end the Cajuns' half of the inning the lead remained at 3-0.

A two-out infield single from Victoria Sanders in the bottom of the fifth inning kept the inning alive for Middleton who hit a line drive over the fence into the left field bleachers slicing the Cajuns lead to 3-2.

Karli Hubbard walked to lead off the sixth inning and Vallie Gaspard collected an infield single to turn the lineup over to the power hitters at the top with no outs.

Holly Tankersley reached on a fielding error by left fielder Sojourner Moody to load the bases. Bertucci then launched a home run over the fence in left center field for four RBI that stretched the Cajuns lead to 7-2.

Cuevas retired the side in the sixth inning and only faced one over the minimum in the seventh inning to lock up her first career win over a ranked team in only her second career start.

The Ragin' Cajuns complete play in the 21st Annual Louisiana Classics on Sunday meeting Wichita State at 2 p.m., and McNeese State at 5 p.m.
